TENSION is building among Gold Coast’s remaining coaches after they were informed a decision on their future would be postponed until a new senior coach was appointed.

TENSION is building among Gold Coast’s remaining coaches who have been left in limbo after the club informed them the new coach would be given a say on their future.

The coaching group were left disgruntled after a meeting with CEO Mark Evans and football manager Marcus Ashcroft this week where it was confirmed a decision on their futures would be postponed until the senior coach was appointed, potentially the week after the AFL Grand Final.

They have the club’s blessing to start looking for new jobs even though their existing contracts do not expire until October 31. Ashcroft did not return calls last night.

AFL Coaches Association CEO Mark Brayshaw said the advice to all coaches who have not been offered new deals by August 1 was to start looking elsewhere.

Interim coach Dean Solomon has declared his desire to stay at the Suns and is likely to be offered a new deal.

However, other coaches are known to be exploring options.

NEAFL and development coach Stephen Daniels has already been linked to the senior job at Southport.

There is also uncertainty over the future of Suns’ defender Rory Thompson.

Thompson has two years to run on his existing contract but has been linked to a move to Hawthorn.

Gold Coast are shopping the local junior around and have vowed to be active this off-season and explore all options.
