ESSENDON coach John Worsfold says he would love to have Jaeger O’Meara at the Bombers next season.
O’Meara walked out on the Gold Coast Suns last week.
Worsfold said O’Meara, 22, fitted the club’s short and long term recruiting strategies.
“We would love to have him at Essendon, absolutely,” he said.

“We are a club that is in a position now to build our list to win premierships in the short term.
“We are looking that over the next six or seven years, to have a squad that will rapidly get back up the ladder and hopefully challenge.
“Players that are around that 22-23 year old age bracket are perfect fits for us, especially ones as talented as an O’Meara.”
O’Meara burst onto the AFL scene, winning the Rising Star award in his debut season.
However, his last two years have been ruined by constant injuries.
Worsfold is also confident banned skipper Jobe Watson will return to the club next season.
Watson made contact with the Bombers after their surprise final round win against Carlton on Saturday.
“My guess is that he wants to play on next year but he wants to make absolutely sure that is what’s in his heart,” Worsfold said on the AFL Footy Show.

“I’d love him to come back and play at Essendon because I’ve got no doubt he will really enjoy playing with the group that we have got together for next year and maybe the year after.
“Really, I feel as though Jobe will be back playing with us. He has got so much to offer. Not only on field with his own performance but also with his leadership for some of the quality young players coming through. I’d love our young players to have the opportunity to play alongside him.”
