FREMANTLE has suffered a huge blow on the eve of the derby, with skipper David Mundy ruled out with a calf complaint.
The Dockers confirmed on Friday morning Mundy would miss the crucial clash with West Coast despite being named in Thursday’s team.
Tendai Mzungu will be the 30-year-old’s replacement, with youngster Darcy Tucker added to the emergencies.
Mundy has not missed a derby since 2011 and has played in 20 of the 21 derbies since his debut in 2005.
The injury is the latest calf blow for Fremantle, with veteran defender Michael Johnson missing Round 1 with soreness and gun recruit Harley Bennell out for an indefinite period.
News of Mundy’s withdrawal prompted bookmakers to wind the Dockers’ price out to as far as $3.65 for a derby win, with West Coast hot favourites at $1.29.
Mundy has missed just one of 21 derbies since his debut.
