NAT Fyfe may have been flat after his failed tribunal hearing, but he’s got plenty to cheers to.

Fremantle’s superstar captain has pocketed more than $1 million after striking it rich as a beer investor.

Fyfe paid less than $100,000 in 2015 to help fund the launch of boutique craft beer company, Pirate Life, co-founded by old school mate Jack Cameron.

But the Brownlow Medallist hit pay dirt at the end of last year when the Adelaide-based business was bought by the biggest beer maker in the world, Belgium-based Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Anheuser-Busch InBev has 500 brands around the world, including Budweiser, Corona, Stella Artois and Becks.

In Australia it became the owner of Carlton & United Breweries, which makes Victoria Bitter and Carlton Draught.

It’s understood Fyfe was initially cautioned against the investment, but was determined to push ahead to help fund the small company started by Cameron, his father Michael and friend Jared “Red” Proudfoot.

In the three years since, Pirate Life has grown to become one of Australia’s fastest-growing brewers.

It’s sale to Anheuser-Busch InBev has paved the way for Pirate Life’s new $15 million brewery and restaurant in Port Adelaide.

Fyfe’s large chunk of “beer money” comes after he signed a huge six-year contract extension to stay with the Dockers.

The 26-year-old last year put pen to paper on a deal worth up to $1.3 million a season, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his future.

He was this week banned for one match after the AFL tribunal upheld his suspension for striking Collingwood’s Levi Greenwood during Sunday’s game at the MCG.
