Fremantle’s Jason Carter has been suspended for five matches after the defender was caught drink-driving in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It’s the second time the Fremantle Next Generation Academy product has been in hot water in 2020, after he was busted breaching the state’s strict COVID-19 laws in April.
In a statement, the Dockers confirmed Carter was stopped by police in Spearwood around 1am on Sunday.

Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the club was disappointed in Carter’s behaviour, and would order the 20-year-old to undergo alcohol counselling.
“Jason put the lives of other road users and himself at risk by getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol,” Garlick said
“As a club, we believe it is important to hold this type of behaviour to account.
“Therefore, the club has determined that Jason will be suspended for five games, be required to step away from the club during that time and also undertake an alcohol counselling and education program.
“Jason is a young man who has clearly made a poor decision but can learn from this experience.
“The club will continue to work with Jason and his management to ensure he is provided with the appropriate amount of guidance and support during this time.”
The AFL has determined no COVID-19 protocols were breached by the latest incident.
Carter has played two senior games for the Dockers since becoming the club’s first academy product and the first player from Wyndham to play AFL.
Carter was taken by the Dockers as a category B rookie following the 2018 national drafts.
