EX-ST KILDA footballer Robert Eddy has gone on a Twitter tirade after having a crack at former coach Ross Lyon as Fremantle’s winless start to the season continues.

Eddy, who played 33 games under Lyon with the Saints, was delisted in the days after the 2010 Grand Final replay — a game he played in — as the former Saints boss looked to regenerate his list.

It seems Eddy still holds a grudge.

“0 and 8.... Oh how karma’s a b****. I love knowing my career and future is secure, unlike some...,” Eddy tweeted after Fremantle’s loss to Hawthorn in Launceston on Saturday.

The former Saint then tried to dilute the impact of his tweet with another 15 minutes later.

“I will be forever grateful for the opportunities I was given. But just goes to show how brutal the business is,” he wrote.

Not half as brutal as fans on Twitter, who were quick to react to Eddy’s criticism.

But it didn’t end there. Eddy fired back and baited a string of Twitter users who replied to his tweets and even tagged fellow former AFL players — sacked Tiger Dan Connors and delisted Demon James Magner.

And the pair were quick to bait those they dubbed as a “keyboard hero”.

Eddy also went on to label one person’s life, who questioned his credentials as a footballer, as “mediocre” because they never played AFL.

The tweets continued into the early hours of the morning, including one sent at 5.07am.

Eddy was delisted by the Saints and delivered the news over the phone by Lyon and then-football manager Greg Hutchison while stranded in Los Angeles following Qantas delays after holidaying with teammates Nick Riewoldt, Zac Dawson and Brendon Goddard.

In the month after his axing, Eddy told the Herald Sun he held no ill-feeling towards Lyon or St Kilda.

On Saturday he said that was a lie.

“Sometimes when you’re a professional athlete you have to say things you don’t mean. But you’d never understand that.”

Nine of the utility’s 33 career games were finals — including the 2010 Grand Final draw and replay.
