Scott Pendlebury 400th game: Where are Pendles’ teammates from his debut game in 2006 18 years on?

Scott Pendlebury was made to wait by the Pies to make his debut in his first season, 2006. But by round 10, he was in and the rest is history. 18 years on, where are his teammates from that day now?

They were a team in transition, but the Pies of 2006 were building something big.

A 2005 where they bottomed out, finishing second bottom, gave Collingwood the prized pair of early draft picks that brought in premiership star Dale Thomas and arguably the greatest Pie of all time, Scott Pendlebury.

The team in Pendlebury’s first game - a win against Brisbane under lights at the ‘G - was equal parts veterans on the way out and the nucleus of the Collingwood 2010 premiership team.

Stalwarts like Nathan Buckley, Scott Burns, James Clement and Shane Wakelin would be gone within one to two years, and former Essendon and Brisbane premiership player Blake Caracella’s career would end less than an hour after Pendlebury’s began - with a serious neck injury after an on-field collision.

But Nick Maxwell, Alan Didak, Heath Shaw and Dane Swan would all be there winning premiership medals in the 2010 replay, along with Pendlebury who was Norm Smith medallist.

It’s been over 18 years since Pendles’ first game, so where are his teammates from that match now?
