Jack Crisp and Will Hoskin-Elliott sign new long-term deals with Collingwood

Jack Crisp and Will Hoskin-Elliott have committed their long-term futures to Collingwood by inking new contracts before the start of the 2019 season — and there could be more good news to come.

Collingwood has re-signed key pair Jack Crisp and Will Hoskin-Elliott to new long-term deals.

Running defender Crisp has agreed to a four-year deal until the end of 2023, while Hoskin-Elliott has committed until the end of 2022.

The pair join Darcy Moore, Jamie Elliott and Tom Langdon in recently signing deals with the Magpies, while the Herald Sun revealed last week midfield gun Taylor Adams is close to signing a new five-year deal.

“At the end of the 2018 season retention was a focus for us,” Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said.

“Jack and Will were obvious priorities in that regard, given the seasons they produced, their experience and the fact that they are reaching the sweet spots of their careers.

“That they were keen to sign long term is also an indication of their faith in the coach, their teammates and the broader program, which is heartening. They are enjoying their football.”

Both Crisp and Hoskin-Elliott played key roles in the Magpies’ resurgence last season and are key pillars as Nathan Buckley’s team aims to go one better than its Grand Final appearance this year.

Crisp, who crossed from Brisbane as part of the Dayne Beams trade in 2014, has played 92 consecutive games since making his Collingwood debut in Round 1 2015.

That run is under threat this year, however, as he continues his return from post-season hip surgery and back soreness.

Originally recruited as a midfielder, the 25-year-old has developed into a damaging halfback and finished fourth in the Magpies’ best and fairest in 2018.

Hoskin-Elliott, who crossed from Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2016, had a breakout season in his first year at Collingwood in 2017 and took his game to a new level last year, booting 42 goals.
