COLLINGWOOD young gun Darcy Moore only needed a half to snare the Round 19 Rising Star nomination with a scintillating display against West Coast.

DARCY Moore says he could still lead Collingwood’s attack on Friday night despite undergoing a scan on the hamstring he injured in Saturday’s win against West Coast.

The athletic forward claimed the NAB Rising Star nomination on Monday despite playing just 34 per cent game time against the Eagles.

The gong means the Magpies have earned a nomination in 21 of the 23 years the Rising Star has existed, despite never producing an overall winner.

They have been recognised every year since 1998.

Moore slotted 3.2 before going off for a routine rotation and not being allowed back on in the 19-point victory at the MCG.

The imposing display triggered goalkicking great Wayne Carey to note that Moore “has all the attributes and ability to go past all other young key forwards in the game”.

Magpies football boss Neil Balme conceded Moore was unlikely to get up for Friday night’s clash against Richmond.

“It was certainly a day of mixed emotions,” Moore said.

“It was a good quarter and a half for me and then I was pretty stoked the team got over the line, because West Coast is a really good top-four team.

“But then to go home with a bandage on my hamstring was pretty flattening.

“I’m hopeful I’ll get up. It’s actually pulled up really well so the medical team has done the right thing by pulling me on game day.

“Hopefully I’ve escaped (damage), but I’ve had a scan and we’ll wait and hear the results of that.

“It’s certainly not a bad one, that’s for sure. It wasn’t an episode, which is generally a good thing. I think most serious hamstrings happen in one motion.

“It was more a gradual thing. I could feel it tightening more and more and was due for a rotation anyway, so came off and then did all the tests and worked with the medical team about getting back on.

“But in the end we made the call together. As a young, lanky athlete I have to make sure I put a lot of trust and faith in them.”

Moore, 20, slotted five goals against the Western Bulldogs last season but had been overlooked by Rising Star judges until now.

Concussion victim Ben Sinclair missed the win against West Coast but was spotted on the training track on Monday.
