COLLINGWOOD’S interstate record under coach Nathan Buckley has pushed above 50 per cent with arguably the best win of his coaching career on Friday night.
The Magpies’ 48-point victory over Adelaide was their first at Adelaide Oval and biggest triumph on the road since a 78-point thumping of Brisbane at the Gabba in Round 8, 2016.
While Buckley — who took over from Mick Malthouse in 2012 — has an overall coaching record of 51 per cent from 140 games, he now holds an interstate record of 52 per cent with Collingwood having won 16 of 31 matches under his tenure.

The record leaves the Magpies as one of just three Victorian clubs who have won more interstate games than they have lost since 2012, with Hawthorn (39-13) and Richmond (21-17) the other sides who travel particularly well.
Buckley would not go as far as saying Friday night’s win over the Crows was the best of his coaching career but did label it “significant”.
“We’ve never minded travelling but it was a significant performance for us because getting some belief about the way you play is an important part of taking the next steps,” Buckley said.
“This was only one game but it was an important game for us to get right.
“In terms of ranking it, it’s a significant win for us. It’s one that we’re pretty happy with.”

Collingwood could yet finish the round in the top-eight should Hawthorn and Richmond both lose, something it has not done since Round 15, 2015.
The Magpies have a 12-day break before facing Essendon on Anzac Day, where they will be searching for a third-straight victory in front of what is expected to be a sold-out crowd at the MCG.
Collingwood lost both games to the Bombers last year but has won three of the past four Anzac Day clashes between the sides.
