Collingwood star Jeremy Howe says he’s ready if the 2020 season to be called off
Most of the talk has been around when the 2020 AFL season will resume after it was shutdown by the threat of coronavirus. But Collingwood star Jeremy Howe has considered the possibility that it might not happen at all.

The NRL has announced its plan to restart the competition on May 28, but the AFL remains in shutdown due to the coronavirus crisis.

This week, talk of basing AFL clubs in hubs across the country in a bid to resume the season has gained traction, but the recently married Howe said he had not given the proposal much thought.
“It’s difficult because I generally don’t want to try and look too far forward because when I do that it just creates a bit more thinking about the process and the situation,” Howe told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“And at the moment no one has got any answers, so it’s not something I waste a lot of energy on.
“What I do is just try to reach out to family and friends as much as I can and stay engaged that way.
“Hopefully we can get through it at some stage and play some footy and if we don’t then that’s the worst case scenario, but as long as we’re all safe at some point.
“If that means we don’t play footy I’m more than happy to do that, but if we do get some footy in it’s a bonus.”
The Magpie defender said he and his teammates continued to train in isolation to be ready should the AFL resume this year.
“The club handed out all their gym equipment so everyone kind of has their own gear at home,” Howe said.
“There will be no records being set that’s for sure, but it's just to maintain some form of strength.
“We were able to go out and have a run and it’s usually its on your own or you can go in twos.
“You can have a kick with someone but I’ve been giving my wife Kahlia a workover down at the oval, she’s been chasing the balls.”
