Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury has had surgery to repair a broken finger.
The five time best-and-fairest winner went under the knife in hospital yesterday and will face a stint on the sidelines.
While it remains unclear how long the injury will keep him out for, it is hoped Pendlebury, 31, will return well before the first final in eight weeks.

He won’t play Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon and will meet with the surgeon in coming days to discuss a likely recovery timeline.
It is the skipper’s middle finger on his left hand, the same finger he cracked in the 2017 International Rules series.
