CARLTON captain Marc Murphy and his wife Jessie have revealed they are expecting their first child, taking to social media to announce a baby boy was on the way.
Mrs Murphy posted a photo of the pair standing next to a large balloon on Instagram on Wednesday night, hinting that they had a special surprise to announce.
She then posted a photo in the same spot, with blue confetti showering the couple seconds after they had popped the balloon, symbolising they were expecting a baby boy.
“IT’S A BOY! We are thrilled to be welcoming Baby Murphy into the world in Jan 2018,” she wrote.
The unconventional method of gender reveal has become increasingly popular with expectant mothers on social media, with the colour reveal a fitting announcement for the Blues captain.
The couple, who had been dating for several years, were married in December at a lavish ceremony in Melbourne.
