Carlton’s grey clash jumper under fire on social media

FANS have given Carlton’s unusual new clash jumper a resounding thumbs-down on social media. Is this the worst jumper in AFL history?

Fans were scratching their heads when Carlton ran out to face Hawthorn in the club’s final JLT Series game in Launceston, reacting with confusion, humour and outright anger over the Blues’ new clash jumper.

White socks that look like part of a private school uniform and dark blue “pockets” on the back of players’ shorts — actually patches for players to dry their hands — complete the ensemble.

Carlton launched the new design two days ago, describing it as a “striking wolf-grey”, but fans weren’t impressed.

This Carlton strip is the worst kit I’ve seen in the history of AFL. Yes, worse than Hawthorn’s diamond jumper in the 90’s.

The uniform drew comparisons with some of the AFL’s most notorious jumpers, including opponent Hawthorn’s infamous “diamond” jumper form the 1990s and more recent silver “Power Ranges” strip.

The Blues are also no strangers to controversial jumpers, wearing a light blue jumper for one match against Adelaide in 1997 as part of a sponsorship deal with M & Ms.

Don't mind the jumper Carlton is wearing but those white socks and patches on the back of the shorts is laughable. It would've been an absolute pisser if Hawthorn was wearing that power rangers jumper as well tonight. #JLTSeries
