CARLTON teenager Jack Silvagni has agreed to extend his contract until the end of 2018.
Silvagni, who doesn’t turn 19 until December 17, played eight games in his debut year after being taken by the Blues as a father/son selection with Pick 53 in last year’s draft.
He played mainly forward, averaging 10 possessions and kicking 7 goals, and at different times displayed some serious ability to signal a definite future.

Carlton’s head of football in Andrew McKay said the contract extension was a natural move for a young man who has impressed everyone with his dedication.
“Since arriving at the Blues, Jack has worked incredibly hard on the training track, his determination to improve as a player has been second to none,” said McKay.
“He earned his spot in the senior side this year after consistent performances in the VFL, so we’re pleased with his progress. Jack knows he has a long way to go, but every time he pulls on the guernsey you know he is going to give his all.”
The Blues were extremely pleased with the output of their five draftees from 2016 in David Cunningham, Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay, Jacob Weitering and Silvagni.
“It’s obviously really exciting to have the contract extended for another year, and hopefully it gives me an opportunity to cement my spot in the senior side for years to come,” Silvagni said.
“Bolts has been great — he preached early on that we’re not entitled to anything so I know I’ve got a lot to work on if I’m going to be able to keep my spot in the side.”
“It goes without saying that the Carlton Football Club is a really important part of my life, so to be at a great club like Carlton with such a rich history and obviously with my family ties, makes it more special.”
