Carlton great Mark Maclure has savaged current Blues football director Chris Judd for disrespecting caretaker coach David Teague.
Judd created a stir on Monday night when he said his club wasn’t interested in an untried senior coach for the 2020 season, stating the Blues didn’t want someone in the top job “with training wheels on”.
The Blues have since backed away from the comments, with CEO Cain Liddle telling the Herald Sun that the club hasn’t ruled anyone out of the job.

Maclure said unleashing that information could have a negative impact on the playing group and called on Judd to apologise to Teague.
“He disrespected the current coach. Dismissed him, absolutely dismissed him,” Maclure said on Fox Footy.
“That’s not his job. His job is to build the culture of the footy club that actually works and makes (them) strong.”
Under Teague, Carlton has enjoyed a stunning form revival.
The Blues have won two of their past four games, with their two losses coming by under a goal.
They have also gone from one of the lowest scoring teams in the competition to one of the highest.
“This guy (Teague) has turned this club around … and he got disrespected by the director of football. I find that disgusting,” Maclure said.
“He (Judd) talks about getting senior coaches. We’ve had some senior coaches this century in (Denis) Pagan and Mick Malthouse. They didn’t work.
“I can tell you the last three premiership coaches have all come from where? Assistant coaches.
“For mine, it is poor. He should apologise to Teague too because that was absolutely ordinary at best.”
Meanwhile, two-time premiership player David King believes Carlton should be making sure it is in the race for Sydney coach John Longmire.
Longmire has one year to run on his deal but has been approached by the Kangaroos about their vacant coaching job.
“Why are we just talking about Sydney or North Melbourne? Aren’t Carlton in the same predicament? Haven’t they got a better list that they can offer up? Haven’t they got the same financial position?
“I would be staggered if Carlton haven’t inquired, similarly to the North Melbourne Football Club, about what John is doing next year. If the option is there between the two clubs, if you’re a career coach and the dollars are reasonably similar and the tenure is reasonably similar on offer, you’re going to Carlton.
“I think Carlton have got a massive play here.”
