Josh Jenkins has perfect opportunity to get revenge for Harry Taylor’s ham handshake

THE last time Adelaide played Geelong Harry Taylor produced the season’s most bizarre moment. Friday night’s rematch provides Josh Jenkins an opportunity for the ultimate revenge.

JOSH Jenkins has a bit to think about this week.

Playing well is one of them. Delivering on his excellent “nothing better than beating him” sledge to Patrick Dangerfield is another.

But the Adelaide forward also has to consider how he can hide a sausage roll on his body for four quarters.

Most will remember Harry Taylor’s bizarre post-match ham handshake with Jenkins the last time the Crows and Cats met in Round 18.

Jenkins had suffered food poisoning in the lead-up to that match when he ate some dodgy ham at a funeral. Taylor commemorated it by hiding a piece of the deli meat in his sock and whipping it out after the final siren.

“He shook my hands and when we separated there was ham in my hand — probably 25gm worth from the deli. I don’t think it was smoked. I wasn’t getting too close to it … I was going to throw up,” Jenkins said afterwards.

Yet the season’s strangest stunt deserves a strange sequel.

With Geelong defender Tom Lonergan missing the Cats’ stunning semi-final win over Sydney with food poisoning from a sausage roll, Jenkins has the perfect opportunity.

We won’t rest until “Jerka” conceals the baked delicacy and then shakes Lonergan’s mit with it.

Balfours still sponsors Adelaide, so he doesn’t have to go far to get his hands on a snagga roll.

The company would also be delighted with the “product placement”.

Everyone’s a winner.
