GWS Giants call on Crows fans to support the ‘Orange Tsunami’ over Port in do-or-die semi final

The Giants are at it again with social media finals fun – this time cheekily calling on all Crows fans to get behind the “Orange Tsunami” against Port Adelaide. See the video.

A tsunami warning has been issued for Adelaide.

Wait, don’t go preparing the sandbags just yet.

If there’s three certainties in life these days, they’re death, taxes and the Greater Western Sydney Giants dominating social media in September.

After swamping the socials in 2019 with the famed “Big Big Sound” memes that swept the game, the Giants are back and have called on Adelaide fans to join the “Orange Tsunami” that is headed for South Australia this weekend.

Drawing on the Crows’ bitter and famous rivalry with Port Adelaide, the Giants – in cheeky fashion – have bid for Adelaide supporters to jump on board and put their dislike for the Power to good use.

Cooper Hamilton – who first begins the video starting to introduce himself as Collingwood livewire Jack Ginnivan given the pair’s former resemblance from when the Pie had bleached his locks last year – has played just four games this year but has become the face of the campaign after what he said was a more than memorable showing against Adelaide in 2022.

“12 touches and a clanger,” he declares in the video posted to Giants channels that has received thousands of likes and reposts.

In a reference to the Crows’ recent Ben Keays goal heartbreak against Sydney, Hamilton draws parallels between the competition’s newest club and the Crows.

“So the Giants and Crows have more in common than you might think. For one, we both hate South Melbourne (Sydney),” he said.

“Two, we love a lot of the same people (Phil Davis, Sam Jacobs, who moved to the Giants after stints at Adelaide)

“Surely you’re over Phil by now.

“Thirdly, we both love to play at Adelaide Oval.

“Finally, and most importantly, we both want the Giants to win on Saturday night.

“So in saying that, and with your September schedule cleared, we’d like you to join the Orange Tsunami for one week and one week only. Jump on board and deck yourself out with orange as we prepare to tear the pear (Power).”

Giants coach Adam Kinsley was supportive of the video.

“I’m sure there won’t be a great call to arms needed with the Crows supporters having known Adelaide quite well. “Yeah, look, if we can get more people showing up supporting the Giants, then I’m certainly all for it.”

Game on.
