But there is no way he was about to stop there. The all-time great small forward decided to give his fans a highlight they will never forget.

In one of the many pockets he officially owns at the ground, Betts drilled what could ultimately be the goal of the year.

Betts grabbed a missed spoil from opponent Jarrod Harbrow before it hit the ground. He then quickly turned around and drilled a left foot banana from the impossible angle.

However, there was more to Betts’ amazing haul than the initial celebrations.

The champion explained after the match that his brother-in-law will be lining up for some ink.

“I was just super proud that I kicked five goals,” he explained.

“I had a bet with my brother-in-law Todd. He said if I kicked five goals, that he’d get a tattoo. He hasn’t got a tattoo, but he’d get a tattoo of my face on his butt cheek. Can’t wait that tattoo.”

On Monday morning, Betts posted a picture on Instagram proving Todd held up his end of the bargain.

Speaking after the match, Crows coach Don Dyke was rapt Betts was able to put on a show in his milestone match.

“We had a tape ready for his 300th yesterday and it went for about nine minutes,” he said.

“We had three songs going and we saw about 20 of those. He’s incredible. He’s had a fantastic career.

“He’s a wonderful man for our footy club. He’s passionate, he loves the club, he’s a great family man. To see him do that tonight was wonderful.”

The stunning goal sent the football world into meltdown.
