Josh Jenkins’ worst fears have been allayed with scans clearing him of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament but he is still expected to miss 4-6 weeks of football.
Scans on Friday showed his ACL was in tact but he had suffered a lateral ligament and capsular injury in the dying minutes of Thursday night’s win over Richmond.
A relieved Jenkins said on Friday he still expected to miss some football which the club later estimated would be 4-6 weeks.
“We’ve been able to eliminate the worst fear, so as we thought last night the ACL is all good.
“It’s quite pleasing, you never like to miss footy and I’ve been really fortunate of having not missed much in my career. so hopefully I can heal quickly and get back out there.

“I’ll go and see docs and physios at the club and work out what the scan looks like.
“I’m not sure (about surgery), it doesn’t look likely, but not too sure just at the moment what the course of action is.”
He said the injury appeared similar to that suffered by teammate Paul Seedsman against Geelong in Round 3. He returned to AFL footy in Round 10.
Jenkins swung his boot at a mid-air ball and hyperextended his right leg, immediately falling to the ground in pain in the hands of the trainers.
His departure on the a stretcher put a dampener on a big night for the tall target, kicking 4.3 from 17 disposals in the 33-point win.
“It does seem quite similar to Paul Seedsman’s injury so two different athletes depending on how they heal and what course of action to take,” he said.
“I’ll miss some footy, it’s hard to envisage I’ll be at Geelong in 15 days but hopefully if I can track Paul’s recovery of four weeks that’d be great but I don’t know.”
Jenkins’ knee was one of four injuries the Crows sustained in the win over Richmond with Daniel Talia (quad), Jake Kelly (calf) and Lachlan Murphy (teeth) finishing the game on the bench.
The club on Friday said that both Talia and Kelly had sustained corkies and they should be fine to play Geelong after the bye.
Midfielder Matt Crouch said the bye was timely considering the four injuries to come out of Thursday night’s win over Richmond.
“There were a few that went down, but hopefully it’s nothing too serious out of that,” he said.
“(The bye) obviously comes at a good time for the boys ... and then we butter up and face Geelong after the bye which is going to be a huge game for us.”
Last night was a blast... until the last few seconds but allâs well that ends well and weâve ended up in a pretty good spot. Iâll miss some footy but not the entire year!
