ADELAIDE coach Don Pyke has slammed Brisbane for publicly declaring its interest in speedy forward-midfielder Charlie Cameron.

The usually-reserved Pyke described Lions coach Chris Fagan’s comments on Melbourne radio that Cameron — contracted to the Crows for another year — is on Brisbane’s radar and would be a good fit up north as “very disappointing, to be honest”.

“He’s under contract, so he’s going nowhere, and it’s unusual that you would see comments about players who are under contract,” Pyke said.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk about players from other clubs who are under contract.”

Cameron has lived in Queensland and is understood to be interested in returning there.

But Pyke said he will not be going anywhere at the end of the season.

“He’s got another year, that’s why we contracted him for next year (to stay),” he said.

Pyke said Cameron had not yet asked Adelaide, which also is fighting to retain out-of-contract key position players Jake Lever and Mitch McGovern, for a trade.

He said he had not spoken to Brisbane, which secured former Crows head of football David Noble at the end of last season, about Fagan’s comments.

Pyke, meanwhile, said captain Taylor Walker (foot) and vice-captain Rory Sloane (knee) trained strongly on Wednesday and are on track to play in Friday night’s Adelaide Oval blockbuster against Sydney.

“They trained fully and based on what they did today they moved themselves closer to playing,” Pyke said.

“Now we’ve got to see how they pull up in the morning.”
