Sydney’s Luke Parker won 15 possessions in the first half as he comes back from a broken arm, with the veteran midfielder finishing with a game-high 34 in the loss.

He will be ready to take on Greater Western Sydney next week, barring any midweek mishap.

Essendon young gun Elijah Tsatas staked his claim for making a return to the AFL line-up for next week’s clash with West Coast with a dominant 39-disposal performance in the Bombers’ VFL win over Collingwood on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was dropped for the Anzac Day blockbuster after being the sub the week before, but he could join Archie Perkins and Matt Guelfi back in the senior team to take on the Eagles.

Tsatas was one of the standout performers for the VFL side that held off Collingwood at Victoria Park, with 17 kicks, 23 handballs, four marks and five clearances.

The Bombers’ VFL side scored a 12-point victory over the Magpies, despite both sides wasting chances in front of goal, with the final score being 13.19 (97) to 11.19 (85).

Fin Macrae was one of the leading Magpies, with six clearances from his 31 touches.

Meanwhile, Gary Rohan kicked four goals for Geelong’s VFL side in its 101-point victory over Carlton at IKON Park.

Mitch Hardie continued his strong form at VFL level and could come under consideration after Patrick Dangerfield suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday, with Hardie collecting 29 touches and 10 marks.

Ted Clohesy recorded 26 disposals, seven marks and two goals in the big win, while Jhye Clark had 22 touches and four clearances.

Arie Schoenmaker continues to push for a senior debut, recording 27 disposals and seven marks for Sandringham in the win over the Northern Bullants.

Giants ruck Nicholas Madden led the way in the VFL side’s win over North Melbourne, recording 31 disposals, 33 hit outs, 14 clearances and eight tackles.

Josh Fahey also had 39 disposals and 10 marks, while North Melbourne’s Tyler Sellers kicked 3.2 from 11 touches in his return to VFL football.

Hawthorn forward Sam Butler has suffered a broken left leg playing for Box Hill in Chad Wingard’s comeback game from a torn achilles.

The Hawks confirmed on Sunday speedster Butler had been taken off on a stretcher after an incident.

It is understood he has suffered a break closer to his ankle in his left leg.

He had played the last two games in the Hawthorn seniors but was dropped, with the 21-year-old showing real promise in his 19 games across three seasons as No. 23 pick in the 2021 national draft.

Wingard has made a speedy return from his own issues and kicked two goals in the first half of the contest at Box Hill City Oval.

He might need more time before he is recalled to the seniors but the Hawks have been thrilled with his progress and professionalism since the achilles tear in round 22 last year.
