KIEREN Jack grew up dreaming of winning the NRL's Dally M Medal, but he could become the first Sydney-born winner of the Brownlow Medal.
Gary Ablett remains the clear favourite, and some bookmakers have already paid out on the Gold Coast captain winning.
But there has been plenty of interest in Swans midfielder Jack as he finishes off his best season in style.
Goodes races the clock to be fit
One punter invested $5000 each way at $13, the biggest wager Sportingbet has taken all year on the Brownlow, smashing the previous bets of $2500 and $2000 taken on Ablett at $1.50.
"Kieren has caught the eye, no doubt about that," Swans great Michael O'Loughlin told the Herald Sun.
"Kieren is winning games for the Swans at the moment and that's important."
It isn't just former teammates Jack is grabbing the attention of - the Swans dynamo is now leading Ablett in the AFL coaches' award.
Two maximum scores of 10 in the last two matches against the Western Bulldogs and Richmond have catapulted the former Pennant Hills player into the lead with four games to go.
One disadvantage Jack may face is the number of team mates he has taking votes from him.
Dan Hannebery is close to the lead in many media award s and Josh Kennedy has been consistent again after finishing tied for eighth with 19 votes.
O'Loughlin believes Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh is another who could cause problems for Jack.
"Kieren and Jarrad McVeigh have been the real stand outs for the Swans, Macca (McVeigh) was the Swans most underrated player for a long time.
That has changed this year," O'Loughlin said.
"It helps to be in a winning team."
