SuperCoach Draft is one of the most enjoyable fantasy formats.
Having your own unique team go up against your mate’s each week in the pursuit of premiership glory is immensely satisfying.
But traditionally, this time of year can get a bit dull.
Often there is a clear leader well above the pack, one or two league members give up and prized picks that frustrate week after week. But what if there was a way to turn your season around?
HELP GUIDE: HOW TO TRADE YOUR WAY TO SUPERCOACH SUCCESS
CAPTAINCY: WHO ARE THE SUPERCOACH LOOPHOLE LEGENDS?
One of the best features of SuperCoach Draft is inter-league trading. It enables you to trade your underperforming premium for your mate’s in-form breakout prospect.
However, you’ve got to give something away to receive a promising player in return. No draft player is trading you superstar Nat Fyfe for Blues rookie Liam Stocker.
So, who are the players with some value?
Players having a slow start to the year with known scoring potential are the ones with the greatest currency.
They may have been hampered by injury or even a role change, but still provide suitors in your league with some incentive — enough to suggest the trade is a “win-win”.
The trade may blow up in your face, but it’s worth a shot – especially if you are hunting for wins in your draft league.
Here are the leading options to put up on the trade table:
Patrick Dangerfield
Average: 98.9
Let’s start from the top, as many Draft players would have taken this man with the first pick. He has averaged 130-plus across a season on multiple occasions, but this year Patrick Dangerfield has been a shadow of his former self. The superstar is currently averaging under 100 points thanks to his injury affected 26 against the Bombers.
His form in previous years coupled with his late season purple patch in 2018 could tempt someone in your league to part ways with one of their prime scorers.
Who to trade Dangerfield for: Nat Fyfe, Josh Kelly, Jack Macrae, Travis Boak.
Isaac Heeney
Average: 90.4
A prized selection for many Drafters, Isaac Heeney has been well below expectations. The super Swan has hardly been training, spending most of his time forward as a result. Do we bother riding it out, or do we look to nab an in-form forward? He is still capable of averaging 100 points from here if his ankle heals, and that possibility
Who for: Josh Dunkley, Mitch Robinson, Tom Hawkins, Rowan Marshall.
Justin Westhoff
Current average: 74
Like Menegola, Justin Westhoff was one of the leading forwards last season but has fallen off the SuperCoach cliff this year. The Hoff looked to be on the mend after two tons on the trot, but returned another dismal score of 41 in the Showdown last week.
His dual position status provides some appeal, along with the fact there is no way his season can go any worse from here… right?
Who for: Rory Lobb, Kane Lambert, James Worpel.
Dayne Beams
Current average: 86.5
He is back for the Pies this weekend, but Dayne Beams is definitely worth floating in your draft’s group inbox as he has more currency than his form suggests. While he has averaged just 86.5 SuperCoach points per game, there is some potential upside for suitors – Taylor Adams’ injury. This should see Beams receive more time in the guts, and there is no doubt he can average more than 100 points for the rest of the year.
W ho for: Tom Rockliff, Tim Taranto, Jacob Hopper, Lachie Hunter.
Tom Liberatore
Current average: 94.8
He looked to be one of the steals of the draft a month ago, but now Liberatore owners are considering whether to field him. His three round average of 67 is dreadful reading for owners, with magnet man Luke Beveridge splitting his time between midfield and forward. Liberatore needs to play in a pure midfield role to score well, so it is time to cut your losses while his average is still solid.
A young emerging midfielder or a fallen premium might get the deal done with someone in your league.
Who for: Jack Steele, Dayne Zorko, Steele Sidebottom, Jarrod Berry.
Angus Brayshaw
Current average: 89.9
Angus Brayshaw was a revelation last season but hasn’t met the same heights in 2019. In recent weeks his role change to the wing has been reflected in his scoring, posting two totals in the 60’s. Like Liberatore, it’s best to see what you can get for Brayshaw now rather than later, as his value at the trade table appears only set to drop.
Who for: Jack Steele, Dayne Zorko, Steele Sidebottom, Jarrod Berry.
Jeremy Howe
Current average: 77.9
After three straight seasons averaging 90-plus, Jeremy Howe has let down those who picked him. The Pies interceptor has scored just one ton in 2019, and has produced two sub-50 totals. Like Menegola you are definitely not going to get what you paid for via a trade, but it may be more bearable than persisting with Howe. A trade for a player with an average in the mid to high 80’s would suffice.
Who for: Zak Jones, Brandon Ellis, Jasper Pittard, Nick Haynes
