There are players who are built for Grand Finals, while others forget to turn up.
This weekend there was plenty of premiums who put their body on the line in SuperCoach Grand Final week, and it showed.
It was raining points over the weekend with five coaches even hitting the 3000 mark — and what a week to do it!
While the likes of Max Gawn and Lachie Neale posted cricket scores, there were other players who would have been the difference between a SuperCoach flag and a long, agonising pre-season for coaches across the country.

STUDS
Max Gawn — 212 points
What. A. Game. There were doubts over whether Max Gawn would line up for the Dees — with Fantasy Freako frightening the life out of SuperCoaches in the lead-up — but he ended up with the highest SuperCoach score of the season. Up against the in-form Todd Goldstein, the bearded giant amassed 26 disposals (20 contested), 41 hit-outs, 10 clearances and booted three goals. This man alone would have been responsible for plenty of SuperCoach flags — especially those who chucked the ‘C’ on him.

Lachie Neale 190 points
Neale finished his year the way he started it — with an almighty bang. The Lions ball-magnet raised the bat at the MCG collecting a whopping 52 disposals — the highest tally of any player in season 2019 — to go with a lazy 190 SuperCoach points. Automatic selection in 2020.
Josh Kennedy — 178 points
JPK wound back the clock against the Saints with a characteristic performance — 32 touches, 11, clearances, nine tackles, two goals and a mammoth 178 SuperCoach points. The contested animal is in under 5,000 teams and proved to be a massive POD in Grand Final proceedings.
Lachie Whitfield 159 points
Whitfield was left to do as he pleased against the Suns on his way to his third 150-plus score of the season. We will miss his dual position status next year.
Brodie Grundy — 157 points
Most SuperCoaches were licking their lips on Friday having Grundy as their ‘VC’ until other monster scores followed. But you would take 157 points every day of the week. Yet another dominant display for the best SuperCoach scorer in the land.
Patrick Dangerfield — 156 points
It was the Danger show at Kardinia Park with the superstar tallying 34 touches, four goals, 156 SuperCoach points and another three Brownlow votes. No surprise seeing this man stand up when it matters most.
Jeremy Cameron 152 points
The 857 cunning coaches who brought in the sharp shooter may have won a Grand Final because of it. Cameron booted seven majors in the second half alone as his teammates looked for him at every opportunity. He produced the goods — finishing with a whopping nine goals, 152 SuperCoach points and the Coleman Medal around his neck.
Patrick Cripps 148 points, Luke Parker 141 points, Marcus Bontempelli 140
Honourable mentions to this trio, who weren’t even among the top nine scorers of the round. All three still failed to feature in the top nine scores of the round.
DUDS
Tom Hawkins — 35 points
Many Hawkins owners kept the key forward with his mouth-watering Grand Final fixture with Carlton in mind, and they were left hurting. The Cats spearhead struggled to get near it in the wet, managing just seven touches and 35 SuperCoach points and failing to hit the scoreboard. Thoughts and prayers to any coaches who traded him in this week.
Robbie Gray — 37 points
This was a stitchup of the highest order for just under 20,000 teams. A score of 37 points in a seven goal win isn’t what you would expect from the Power livewire.
Jack Billings — 44 points
He always finds a way to hurt us. Billings left his worst score of the season until the most important game of the season — SuperCoach Grand Final day. A meagre 44 SuperCoach points didn’t cut the mustard and may have been flag defining.
Ben Cunnington 46 points
It has been a significant fall from grace for Cunnington in the back half of the year and this was the lowest point. A Jack Viney tag kept him to a low tally, finishing with just 14 touches and 46 points. Ouch.
Isaac Heeney — 54 points
More broadly, this score sums up his SuperCoach year — plenty of expectation but failing to deliver. Most with a trade or two in hand would have thought the blond-bombshell would clean up against a lacklustre Saints side. Sure enough, he did the opposite. Coaches will have a long, hard think before starting with Isaac Heeney next year.
THE WINNERS
While some coaches were just focused on winning their league, others were battling neck and neck for the $50,000 prize.
In the end, it was Dwayne’s ‘Rexwell Crumbers’ who brought home the bacon, coming from second to win it by just 14 points.
