SuperCoach rage trades: Who’s on the chopping block in grand final week?

It’s grand final week in SuperCoach and there’s no time for sentiment. It all comes down to who will score the most points next week. And some big names could be in strife.

Patrick Cripps of the Blues.

With just one match to go there is no time for sentiment in SuperCoach.

It all comes down to one thing — who will score the most points in Round 23, also known as the SuperCoach grand final.

It’s time for some bold calls if you want to hold up the SuperCoach cup.

BOOT HIM

PATRICK CRIPPS

A controversial call, this one, but he is playing against the Cats at GMHBA stadium this week and has had three scores under 90 in his past five (the other two scores have been 130-plus). If it wasn’t the last week of the season I would say hold him but he is one that you might want to use as a trade out for a unique with a good match-up.

TOM HAWKINS

Hawkins was talked about as a trade-in this week but he didn’t fire against the Lions (40 points). He had the footy but his disposal efficiency was down and he didn’t kick a goal. The Cats do play the Blues at home this week but we all know that key forwards are a huge risk. If you can go into a grand final without one in your side it would be the preferred option.

ALEX WITHERDEN

We have been hoping that he would come good all season but he hasn’t delivered. He has had just one good score since his run of 92s in rounds 4-6. He is still in over 4 per cent of sides but your chances of bring a premiership home with him in your side are not good.

MATT CROUCH

After his big game last week he couldn’t keep it up and managed his second-lowest score of the season this week. Last time he played the Bulldogs away from Adelaide Oval he scored just 68 points. This is a huge concern for owners. If you have a luxury trade and aren’t sure where to use it, this may be just the place.

RORY SLOANE

Sloane was one of many Crows down this week and he could have been feeling the effects of the big hit that he took last week. Even though he could have been better if not injured last week this makes it now three scores under 90 in a row for the Adelaide co-captain.

ROBBIE GRAY

Gray has been very inconsistent of late and has only been over 100 once in the past five games. Even though all of the Power were not good this week he played predominately midfield and still didn’t manage to crack 60 points. This is the sort of performance that will lose you the GF if he dishes it up again.

TOM ROCKLIFF

If you are still holding Rocky then it could be too risky to hold him for your grand final. He has been over 100 just once since Round 10 with this week’s 57 his lowest in that time. With the Power in a must-win situation he will hopefully turn it around, but if you have a luxury trade left to make he could be a good one to use it on.

JAMES SICILY

Sicily is just impossible to read. After a 140 last week he dished up a horror score for owners in the Prelim final. There are a few players down back that have scored well in recent weeks with Houli being the leader of that pack. If you can trade out Sicily and get to Houli it might just win you a Grand Final. We just can’t have another sub standard score from him in such an important week.

INJURY WATCH — MAX GAWN

Big Max limped off in the last quarter and as a result played only 77 per cent of the game. This is a massive concern for us. It was listed as “hamstring tightness” and with no finals on the cards and just one game left, do the Demons leave Max out this week? Hopefully not but if they do, I hope you have a trade up your sleeve.

BUY HIM

TODD GOLDSTEIN

What a game from the Kangaroos ruckman. He was doing it all against the hapless Power. He had a career-high 19 contested possessions to go with an equal team-high nine clearances and 34 touches. It was the all-round complete game from him. If Max is out then he should be your No.1 target this week. He would be up against Max’s side with only Braydon Preuss to contend with.

NIC NEWMAN

Another big score from Newman this week. He has had a few 80s in recent weeks but a 161 in Round 20 and a 117 this week should be enough for us to take a one-week risk on him. When he gets the ball he has been using it really well, which is boosting his score.

MATTHEW KREUZER

Kreuzer finishes the season against the undermanned Geelong rucks. He should have a big day as he will dominate the hitouts, but he may have Blicavs on him who will run him around the ground. If you need a ruckman if Max misses then he could be a good unique option with a good match-up.

ROWAN MARSHALL

Marshall is another option if you need a forward this week. He comes up against the Swans who are using Aliir Aliir in ruck at the moment and he should have a field day on the SCG. This week was his 10th score over 100 in his past 11 games. He is a star of the future and worth a trade in Round 23.

JARRYD LYONS

Lyons has been huge in the last half of this season and yet again he top-scored for the Lions. He is benefiting from all of the attention that is going to Neale and Zorko. Back-to-back scores over 140 should be enough to convince you to pick him up but just beware that the Lions head to the G to play the Tigers this week.

MICHAEL WALTERS

After letting owners down last week he showed us that he can be the X-factor and win you a final. Earlier this season he scored 158 against Port Adelaide when they met in Round 13 at Optus Stadium. Walters will be keen to repeat this performance in the last game of the season and he is every chance to do just that. He could be a sneaky unique player for you that could just win you the Grand Final.

ELLIOT YEO

Yeo top scored for the Eagles this week and has had five scores over 110 in the last six games. He comes up against the Hawks at home. He did only score 94 on them last time at the G but at Optus Stadium he has had some massive scores including a 132, 136, 142 and 128 in the second half of the year against teams that are down the ladder.

BACHAR HOULI

He hasn’t been under 100 since round 17 and this score was his biggest for the season. He has had five scores over 135 this season. He is playing at the G this week. All of these games since round 17 have been at the G. Just one of his games there this season has been under 100 and that was a 93 against Geelong. He is a great option as a replacement for a defender…. Maybe Sicily?

JOSH DUNKLEY

Hard to go past a score of 169. He comes up against the Crows this week who don’t generally tag through the mids and do have one of the slower midfields in the competition over the past few weeks. He has now scored 153 and 169 in the last two weeks. We often say to not chase a score but this is one that might just be worth chasing.

IF YOU’RE BRAVE

BEN BROWN

Even though I rarely recommend key forwards we couldn’t go without mentioning Ben Brown and his 10 goals. He was outstanding for the Kangaroos and this week he is up against the Demons in Tasmania. If he was facing a stronger side I would say don’t go near him but he could kick another huge bag.
