TIM Kelly looks to be a lock for Round 1 against Melbourne.

And he is a must for your SuperCoach side, at a dirt-cheap $117,300.

Taken with pick No.24 in last year’s draft, Kelly was electric inside the centre square early on Sunday and will give the Cats some extra spark and strength at ground level.

The 23-year-old midfield-forward, who finished second in the Sandover Medal last year, showed a clean pair of heels at the first centre bounce of the game with a clean breakaway which bounced off the chest of spearhead Tim Hawkins.

Then he laced-out Jermaine Jones inside 50m with another gem in the second term.

Talk about making an immediate statement.

Without superstar midfield trio Gary Ablett, Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield, Kelly looked so comfortable and was quick with his hands from the outset. Kelly was clearly one of Geelong’s best player in the early stages.

SCROLL FOR ALL THE SCORES FROM SUNDAY’S GAME

The ready-made West Australian looks a straight swap for the departed Steve Motlop in the front half of the ground, bolstering the Cats’ premiership tilt.

Assistant coach Matthew Scarlett was thrilled with his output.

“He has had a great preseason, started the game off really well and is a really smart player,” Scarlett said.

EX-BLUE BOLTER

Circle Nick Holman’s name.

The former Carlton midfielder did his chances of a Round 1 game no harm racking up plenty of ball through the midfield.

The Suns are looking to improve their midfield depth and Holman can step straight in after averaging 26 possessions and seven score involvements in the SANFL last year.

His contested possession work was certainly a factor as the Suns showed a lot of improvement around the stoppages.

At only $102,400, the midfielder has to be on your radar.
