THINK SuperCoach is just for fun? Ayden Potter is proof it can be a lot more than that.

He was just 18 when he claimed the $50,000 SuperCoach grand prize in 2015, charging home with a final-round score of 2519 to leapfrog his way to the top of the pile of tens of thousands of SuperCoach players.

DON’T PANIC: TIPS FROM LAST YEAR’S CHAMPION

He used the prizemoney to buy a car and “a lot of tools”, but the apprentice carpenter has another big purchase on the agenda: his first house.

That means taking his selections very seriously again this year — and he has shared his thoughts with the rest of the SuperCoach community.

1. How are you feeling with less than a week to go before Round 1 lockout?

I’m pretty calm at the moment although I know I’ll be in panic mode when the teams drop before Round 1.

2. How many changes will you make to your starting squad between now and Round 1?

I’ll pretty much only change rookie selections based on who gets named Round 1. I doubt many premium selections will change bar injury changes.

3. Are you starting with Gary Ablett?

I’m not starting with Gary because of potential for increased forward time, the always present injury risk and the dreaded Round 9 bye.

4. Who are the three must-have selections this year?

Nat Fyfe — Averaged over 120 in 2014 and 2015 and is priced at 105 whilst looking as fit as ever. Bargain.

Luke Dahlhaus — Started last year on fire, averaging 108.3 up to Round 10 before succumbing to injury. Priced at an average of 95 due to injury-affected games and struggling to reach those heights again after his comeback.

Patrick Dangerfield — A lock to be one of the best scorers again and a valuable C/VC option. Well worth his expensive price tag

5. What is the biggest risk in your starting squad/strategy?

My biggest risk is probably the injury-prone duo of Sandilands and Beams, however most people seem to be selecting them. May have to waste precious trades when/if injury strikes.

6. How many mid-pricers will be in your team for Round 1?

Three mid-Pricers at the moment. Sandilands, Beams and Roughead.

7. Is there a bolter or point of difference in your team that will set you apart from the pack?

No real POD at the moment. I prefer to select PODs during the season when premiums drop in value significantly and when fixture difficulty can be taken advantage of.

Luke Parker has been in and out of my team though and I don’t see him as an overly popular selection.

8. Any final words of advice for the rest of us mere mortals?

Don’t settle for lesser scoring premiums. Select those that you think will be Top 10 in their positions and avoid too many mid-pricers, they limit team growth and cash generation.
