THE SUPERCOACHES BOX

How long has your podcast been going?

The SuperCoaches Box made its debut in 2016 so this is our fourth season behind the microphone.

Who are the regular hosts?

Al Paton, head of the Herald Sun’s AFL digital team, is joined by AFL reporter Gilbert Gardiner, AFL digital producer Ben Higgins and investment specialist and SuperCoach gun Daniel Begala.

What makes your podcast different?

The SuperCoaches Box is the official AFL SuperCoach podcast, so you’re getting the inside word on how the game operates, the first drop on any changes and exclusive access to the Herald Sun’s army of footy reporters who have their ears to the ground at all AFL clubs. If you want the latest injury news and best selection whispers, tune in every Tuesday and watch our Facebook Live stream for instant analysis after the teams are named every Thursday. We also deliver expert SuperCoach advice, and Gilbert’s mailbag is a phenomenon in itself.

What do you love about SuperCoach?

SuperCoach is Australia's undisputed No.1 fantasy game, and this article illustrates why. It gives us another reason to watch and dissect footy, and has created its own loyal and passionate fan base who share advice, debate selections and share (mostly) friendly banter. Playing SuperCoach can be stressful at times but it’s really great fun, and so is recording the podcast.

What do you love about SuperCoach?

Who said we love it? Most of the time we hate it, but we just keep coming back. OK, maybe the Monday morning banter is fun. And it makes a Gold Coast v Carlton blockbuster really enjoyable viewing.

DOCTOR SUPERCOACH

How long has your podcast been going?

We are heading into our fourth season in 2019 and with 138 episodes already released, we feel another breakout year is on the cards for us.

Who are the regular hosts?

Our three regular podcasters are Cheezo, JB and Pistol and we alternate combinations throughout the season as much as possible. However, usually if your SuperCoach side performed the best out of the three, then you try and make yourself available come Monday for the Round Recap podcast for a bit of extra banter.

What makes your podcast different?

Putting out two podcasts a week allows us to cover what happened during the previous round while also covering some pre-lockout recommendations, as we begin our lockout podcast immediately after teams are announced. We like to focus on the how and why players score as they did, rather than looking purely at the end result. We have also tried to use our podcast as a way to raise much needed money for cancer research and over the last three years, we have raised just over $6500 for the Cancer Council, thanks to our generous community!

What do you love about SuperCoach?

First and foremost we love SuperCoach because of the community. In fact, that’s how we met! We love the competitiveness of SuperCoach, born from the perfect mixture of skill, luck and bragging rights while incorporating the best sport in the world.

You can find us as “Doctor Supercoach” on Facebook and on Twitter via our handle @Doctor_SC. For the individual hosts, you can check out @Cheezo_DRSC, @JB_DRSC and @Pistol_DRSC on Twitter.

SUPERCOACH COACH

How long has your podcast been going?

Over a decade, 11 years strong!

Who are the regular hosts?

Marcus and Mark

What makes your podcast different?

Not to throw shade at our peers ... but we are the original and the best! We are the longest-running AFL fantasy podcast, and we keep producing the show because of our passion for the community and helping our listeners achieve success and beat their mates. We focus on high-quality advice and strategy — this, plus our experience, sees us deliver consistent results: we are back-to-back overall league champions and on average occupy half of the top 20 leagues overall. If you want elite advice, give us a go.

What do you love about SuperCoach?

Marcus: The banter, the community, the challenge of outsmarting your mates and the love of AFL football! I even met a friend for life (cue the Donkey).

FBDonkey: I love SuperCoach because it is a game based on limited information so there is never a perfect answer to problems. The main reason I love SC is because it brings people together

JOCK REYNOLDS

Who are the regular hosts?

Patch and myself (Lekdog) are the hosts of the show but we couldn’t do it without the genius of Damo or Bazz.

What makes your podcast different?

If you like hearing about arson, Daniel Rich, Chadley Wingard, Nathan Fyfe and community input, then this is the podcast for you! Our podcast is built on the community and we lean heavily on them for content and talking points.

What do you love about SuperCoach?

The community! At the end of the day Supercoach is ‘just’ footy and numbers ... but the people we meet and the friendships we build through this game transcend sport and the almighty Champion Data.

Everything’s real, banter is real, commitment is real, and our love for our community is real.

SUPERCOACH INSIDER

How long has your podcast been going?

This is our second year in the podcasting scene, with 69 episodes to date.

Who are the regular hosts?

Our regular hosts are Ben Ayers and Chris Cuschieri.

What makes your podcast different?

What makes our podcast different, aside from the fact we are the only podcast that records everything live on Twitch, is that we are also focused on SuperCoach Draft, so we don’t skip over the mid-tier players. It makes our podcasts longer and more in-depth than most. Our goal when we record is to sound just like two mates at the pub, talking footy and SuperCoach, and that’s what we hope to bring each episode.

What do you love about SuperCoach?

This is exactly what we love about SuperCoach. It’s the mateships you build along the way. Through all the banter and gentle hazing you form really good friendships. From a purely footy perspective, the best thing about SuperCoach is having players on different teams to support when your own team isn’t playing.
