Rage Trades: Who to boot and who to buy for SuperCoach preliminary finals

Hawthorn midfielder James Worpel is no longer a SuperCoach secret and could be the missing piece for the success. Here are the preliminary final trade options.

It’s preliminary finals weekend in SuperCoach.

If you still have trades left, here are the players you need to consider moving on or trading in if you want to make your league’s grand final.

BOOT HIM

Jeremy Cameron

Cameron struggled again this week after returning from missing Round 20. Only seven touches and one goal in the snow didn’t help his cause. It wasn’t entirely his fault as he didn’t see the ball down his end very often but this is again highlighting the risk of the key forward.

Jack Crisp

This makes it four scores in the 60s now for the once popular Pies defender. This week was his lowest since Round 3 from 19 touches at a terrible 36 per cent efficiency. He was great when he had a role running through the midfield but with Adams back now his opportunities will diminish. Try to upgrade him.

Tom Rockliff

Rocky has had a pretty quiet month by his standards but the main issue for SuperCoaches is that he has only had one good score over 100 in that time. His season has averaged just under 100 but at this time of the season we need to be seeing much higher scores than this. Try and upgrade him to someone having a good run of form.

Justin Westhoff

Westhoff hasn’t had a score over 90 in the last five weeks now which is a massive concern for owners. This week’s 58 should be the final straw. He does provide you that coverage for your ruck line so if you can hold him but have him on the bench that would be a good result, but you don’t want to rely on him on the ground.

Dylan Shiel

Shiel was the third best scorer for the Bombers but when that score is a 92 there are certainly concerns. Just one score over 100 in the last five weeks and a disposal efficiency of 56 per cent this week he is just too risky for you to own with two big finals ahead.

Jack Ziebell

Despite a 120 in Round 20 the other four games in his last five have seen him fail to score more than 70 in all occasions. We can’t have a score like that in our teams for Preliminary finals week. This week the reason for his low score was a low disposal efficiency of 58 per cent and seven clangers. The main problem with trading him out is that his value is so low at under $450k.

David Mundy

Mundy was ok for a few weeks after the bye but his last two have seen a 48 and a 68. He is currently in just over 8 per cent of teams but he needs to be moved on because this level of scoring isn’t acceptable for a preliminary final next week.

Jack Riewoldt

We all know that key forwards are dangerous to own but we have now seen three scores in a row from Jack in the 40’s. With Tom Lynch now being the go to forward for the Tigers things have been a bit more difficult for Jack. They both kicked two goals but Jack had two less marks and four less possessions.

Shannon Hurn

Owners would not have been happy to see his 56 in the last game of the round. He hasn’t been over 100 now since round 16 and has done it just twice since round 11. If you can upgrade another player on your bench and use him as a loophole option that may be your best option.

Boot this guy because of injury issues ...

Rory Sloane

Sloane missed the second half of the game against the Eagles after a heavy face clash with Matt Crouch. He was complaining of blurred vision and he has had cheek bone issues before. Just keep an eye on the news reports during the week. If he misses then he needs to be traded.

BUY HIM

Toby Greene

Yet again he showed us what he is capable of. His team were soundly beaten but according to our scores he was the fourth most influential player on the ground. He tried to drag his team back up when they were struggling with a great patch in the second quarter and he tried to do it again in the third. Well worth picking him up.

James Worpel

Worpel once again impressed and extended his great run of form to five weeks now. His 31 touches and six tackles showed us how he has taken control in the Hawks midfield as he also had the second most clearances for the team also. He is one to grab while he is on a hot streak and facing the Suns this week.

Scott Pendlebury

In his last seven games he has had two in the 90s and all the others have been over 100. He is priced at just over $500k so is a bargain for this level of scoring and this week’s score has equalled his best score of the season.

Isaac Heeney

Heeney presents a great deal of value currently. His last three have been over 100 yet he is priced at around just $500k. He had the equal third best disposal efficiency for the Swans and was looking good around the ground. He would be a handy addition to your forward line.

Jarryd Lyons

We have been impressed with Lyons for a few weeks now and after an 86 last week he bounced back to be the equal top scorer for the Lions with Zorko. He is a great unique option as he is still in less than 2 per cent of teams. He is playing a very Supercoach friendly game with 26 of his 34 touches being kicks and he had the second most clearances on the ground with 7.

Josh Dunkley

Dunkley was the beneficiary of the tag going to Jack Macrae this week as he was left alone to do as he pleased. We have seen his scoring pedigree since the byes and with just one game under 100 in that period and 3 over 150 he is someone you really need to have in your side.

Ed Curnow

Ed has slipped under the radar of many Supercoaches as he is in less than 1 per cent of teams. He has had 5 scores of 105 or more in the last seven games since the bye. This week saw his best score of the season and with the Blues playing the Saints this week he could have another big day out.

PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR ANOTHER WEEK

James Sicily

He was on our boot list for the last few weeks but he redeemed himself for all those coaches that stuck with him. After having a Hawks record 16 intercept possessions, he had his second score over 100 since his bye but both have been 140+. He plays Gold Coast this week and last time had 135 against them but then it is the Eagles to finish the year. So you may want to hold him and loophole him off the bench if you can.

Dan Hannebery

What a great first game back from Hannebery. Not only did he get the ball with 23 touches but he kicked a couple of goals and used the footy really well with an efficiency of 87 per cent. If he pulls up well and gets a game next week perhaps he could be a valuable unique for the last two rounds.

Michael Walters

Walters had his second lowest score for the season. He was on 48 at half time and scored just 8 points in the second half! He is coming off of 104, 113 and 137 which is why, due to his low price, he was looked at by many coaches. Don’t panic on him just yet but hopefully we can see him turn this around.
