ROUND 6 TRADE GUIDE: WHEN TO TARGET FALLEN PREMIUMS

KFC SuperCoaches are desperate to see Tom Highmore back in St Kilda’s team.
KFC SuperCoaches are desperate to see Tom Highmore back in St Kilda’s team.

1. Tom Highmore (-68) still has the lowest break even in KFC SuperCoach. Highmore gave KFC SuperCoaches hope of a senior recall with 95 ranking points in his first VFL outing for Sandringham, St Kilda’s state affiliate. Although it is worth noting he wasn’t chosen in St Kilda’s 26-man AFL squad in Round 5. Lachlan Jones (-48) will be a popular buy this week and is projected to rise by more than $50,000 after his next game. Magpie Beau McCreery (-45) is projected to surge by about $45,000 after scores of 56 and 58 to start his AFL career.

James Rowe showed the value of persisting with rookies in Round 5.

2. Sometimes it pays to hold on to your rookies. Those who jumped off James Rowe will be disappointed after a score of 79 against Fremantle caused his break even to crash back into the negatives (-23). The popular Crow is projected to reach $300k by Round 10. Thankfully, only 0.2 per cent of coaches traded Rowe before Adelaide’s loss to the Dockers.

Jake Lloyd’s price continues to fall in a welcome sign for those targeting him.
Jake Lloyd’s price continues to fall in a welcome sign for those targeting him.

3. KFC SuperCoaches eyeing Jake Lloyd as an upgrade target will be buoyed by projections which show the Swans defender is only a 0.4 per cent chance of hitting his 154 break even this round. Lloyd is projected to score 95 against Gold Coast and fall by more than $26k. Incredibly, GWS star Josh Kelly ($539k MID) is rated a 0 per cent chance of reaching his 128 break even. Kelly has been playing predominantly as a forward this year and has scores of 98, 90, 100, 90 and 98.

Jarryd Lyons is one of only three players to score tons in every round.

4. Jarryd Lyons ($613k MID) continues to be one of the best KFC SuperCoach PODs. Only Max Gawn (146), injured Crow Matt Crouch (137), Josh Dunkley (133) and Jack Macrae (132) have higher projected three-round averages than the prolific Lion (125), who features in only 1 per cent of KFC SuperCoach teams. Lyons, Dunkley and Macrae are the only players to have scored KFC SuperCoach tons in every round.

Jy Farrar scored 83 KFC SuperCoach points against Western Bulldogs.

5. Gold Coast defender Jy Farrar ($184k FWD) is a player worth monitoring this week. Farrar has a break even of -9 for Round 6 but that is projected to fall to -41 for Round 7. He impressed with 21 disposals, eight marks and 83 KFC SuperCoach points against Western Bulldogs. Farrar featured in one game last year, scoring 49 points against Hawthorn.

Jordan Ridley is set to miss Round 6 due to concussion.

6. As of Tuesday morning, almost 2000 KFC SuperCoaches had traded out the year’s No.1 defender Jordan Ridley. The star Bomber is set to miss Anzac Day due to concussion, but should return in Round 7. Ridley’s price has already dropped by more than $25,000 after a score of 31 against the Brisbane Lions and he is projected to be available for $536k — lower than his starting price — after his next two matches. Tom Stewart and Lachie Neale (via DPP) are the most-popular Ridley replacements.

Jack Ziebell continues to excel as a KFC SuperCoach scorer.
Jack Ziebell continues to excel as a KFC SuperCoach scorer.

7. Jack Ziebell is undoubtedly the bargain of the year in KFC SuperCoach, already rising more than $220k from his starting price of $257k. The Ziebell train is showing no signs of slowing down, with a break even of 25 ahead of Round 6 and an incredible average of 119. The Roos skipper knows the KFC SuperCoach formula, playing on from 13 of his 14 kick-ins against Geelong. His price rise hasn’t put off more than 2 per cent of teams who have traded in Ziebell ahead of this round. The question though is — what have they been doing for the first five rounds?

Sam Walsh has been one of the top KFC SuperCoach scorers of the year.
Sam Walsh has been one of the top KFC SuperCoach scorers of the year.

8. He’s one of the form players in KFC SuperCoach and prolific Blue Sam Walsh loves coming up against Carlton’s next opponent, the Brisbane Lions. Walsh averages 130 against the Lions with scores of 119 and 141 in his two career outings against them. Walsh is $568k and ranks fourth for total points in the midfield this year behind Jack Macrae, Josh Dunkley and Jack Steele.

Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe loves coming up against North Melbourne.

9. Nat Fyfe owners will be licking their lips ahead of the dual Brownlow medallist’s clash against North Melbourne. Fyfe averages an eye-popping 126.7 against the Roos and has scored 140, 147 and 163 in his past three games against David Noble’s side. The 16 per cent of teams with the Fremantle skipper will be hoping he repeats those heroics this weekend against the AFL’s only winless club.

10. Brodie Smith ($477k DEF/MID) is one of the form dual-position players in KFC SuperCoach. The star Crow has scores of 105, 121 and 117 in his past three games and jumped in value by $38k after hitting triple figures against Fremantle in Round 5. Smith is projected to rise again by $25,000 this round and eclipse $500k. The beauty for those considering him as a KFC SuperCoach POD is he’s been on kick-in duties too, a valuable source of points for many players this year.

11. Jordan Clark ($294k DEF/MID) is on the outer with KFC SuperCoaches — as well as Chris Scott. The young Cat was an unused medical sub against North Melbourne and by Tuesday morning had been traded out of more than 5 per cent of KFC SuperCoach teams. Young Swan Braeden Campbell (-3.6 per cent) was the next most-traded player.
