It’s not too late to win big in KFC SuperCoach AFL and take on your mates

If you don’t have a SuperCoach team yet, don’t worry. You can still win big and take on your family and friends for ultimate bragging rights. You might even have an advantage. Here’s how to do it.

Sign up and compete directly against your mates.

There was a bit going on when the AFL season launched back in March.

So if you didn’t get round to picking a KFC SuperCoach team, we don’t blame you. But that’s no reason to miss out on the biggest game in town.

The good news is footy is coming back and SuperCoach will be back too, bigger than ever. And it’s not too late to be part of the action.

MAKE FOOTY MORE FUN

We can’t go to games (at least, not yet) so we’ll be spending more time on the couch than ever watching up to nine games a round on TV from June 11.

Without the usual crowd banter, SuperCoach is the perfect way to get your footy fix. Watch your players perform live every round, let your mates know all about your great selections (and their failures) and have a reason to be invested in Fremantle v Gold Coast.

Follow all the action as it happens and make your selection and trade moves on the free KFC SuperCoach app — available now in the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

WIN BIG

The top SuperCoach at the end of the season will pocket $50,000 in cash.

If you missed Round 1, you’re starting at the back of the grid for the overall title, but there are plenty more great prizes on offer.

In fact, by joining now you’ll have an edge on everyone else in chasing the weekly prizes of $1000 for the best score each round, $500 for second and $250 for third.

You can avoid the mistakes everyone else made two months ago by picking a team from scratch, selecting only players you know will be playing in Round 2.

Stack your team with the best cheapies and bolters who are about to skyrocket in price to build your bank for future trades.

And the best part is you have unlimited trades right up to the final Round 2 lockout so you won’t start using up your season tally of 30 until after the next round of matches — when most other players will be down to 25.

Maybe that gap to the overall leader isn’t so insurmountable after all.

TAKE ON YOUR MATES

Private leagues are the most fun aspect of KFC SuperCoach, taking on your friends and family in head-to-head contests each week leading into a finals series at the end of the season.

Leagues created before Round 1 are now locked and can’t be altered. And if you are already in locked leagues, you can’t join a league that is created now. But there are other great tools to keep the banter going every week:

LEAGUES: Every new player will automatically be entered into a league with other new players, so everyone enjoys the thrill of playing for a league premiership. If you have friends who are also signing up now, you can invite them to join your league. And you can also add Herald Sun experts including Jonathan Brown, Mark Robinson and Al Paton to your league to play against them in head-to-head contests and prove your footy smarts.

GROUPS: These are the easiest way to create a competition among your friends. Groups can feature an unlimited number of players who can join, come and go as they please — so you can include players who signed up before Round 1 and late starters.

To create or join a group click “Leagues” on the main menu and scroll down beneath your leagues. Groups have unique codes, similar to leagues, that you can send to anyone you want to take part. Start by joining the SuperCoach Podcast group — 413544.

You can invite as many players as you like to be part of your KFC SuperCoach group.

RIVALRIES: If head-to-head competition is what you need, we’ve got that covered, too. You can set up a rivalry with anyone who is registered for KFC SuperCoach and effectively play against them every week, with a season-long win-loss tally updating every week. you can also compare your total points against each rival.

As with groups, you can join now and create a rivalry against any other player, including a friend who signed up before Round 1. Rivalries are more fun if the your rival also sets up a rivalry with you so you can both track who’s ahead every week.

Rivalries are also found on the “Leagues” page — just hit the “Rivalries” tab and “Set up a rivalry” then search for the name of the team you want to play (so if you wanted to start a rivalry with Al Paton, you would need to look for “Don’t Argue”. If there is more than one team with that name, first names are also listed so you can find the right one).
