The Brisbane Lions ball magnet finished with the second-best KFC SuperCoach average of any midfielder last season, racking up 121.3 points a game.
Neale had the ball on a string in the Lions’ Marsh Series loss to Port Adelaide on Sunday, amassing 25 disposals by halftime and finishing with 47.
His efforts amounted to a monster SuperCoach score of 168, 30 points clear of the next-best on the ground — ruckman Stefan Martin.
Neale is one of the most expensive players in SuperCoach at $658,500, but Sunday’s evidence suggests coaches need to find enough wiggle room in their budget to start him.
His offsider Hugh McCluggage (127) was the other standout, kicking three goals to hit triple figures.
At $510,700, McCluggage has been tipped for a breakout campaign.
For Port Adelaide, Dan Houston (96) did his chances of featuring in thousands of SuperCoach teams no harm, while Travis Boak (120) picked up where he left off last year.
