WHO starred and who stunk in Round 9 AFL SuperCoach action.

HAWTHORN 55 def by SYDNEY 69

Hawks studs: This will be quick. Jack Gunston (119) the only Hawk in triple figures after his game-high four goals.

Hawks duds: Sam Mitchell (52) was taken to the cleaners by Tom Mitchell and after a strong first quarter faded out of the contest. Jordan Lewis (52) was hardly sighted and could be lighter in the pocket for an unsociable Hawthorn elbow to Luke Parker’s head. Bradley Hill (42) couldn’t get near the ball, while Kaiden Brand (46) battled for his eight disposals.

Swans studs: Kurt Tippett (141) was too big, too tall and too good especially late in the match. Luke Parker (120) overcame a slow start to post a respectable score, while Josh Kennedy, Dan Hannebery and Lance Franklin all tonned up.

Swans duds: Kieren Jack (61) and Jarrad McVeigh (70) played bit-part roles in the narrow victory at the MCG.

COLLINGWOOD 104 def GEELONG 80

Magpies studs: Scott Pendlebury (140) put on another midfield master class with 26 disposals and three goals. Steele Sidebottom (128) and Adam Treloar (115) picked up where they left off last week, while Jack Crisp (115) roared back into form with a brilliant first half.

Magpies duds: Josh Smith (67) did a couple of nice things early without setting the world on fire. Adam Oxley (47) a shadow of his former SuperCoach self.

Cats studs: Mitch Duncan led the way with 116 ahead of Marc Blicavs (115) and Darcy Lang (106).

Cats duds: Patrick Dangerfield (86) and Joel Selwood (72) failed to fire a shot — the former missing two gettable shots on goal in the first half. Steven Motlop (47) was a popular selection after going berko last week but failed to replicate his efforts. Late inclusion Tom Ruggles posted a respectable 60. Corey Enright (63) was also found wanting in stages especially under immense pressure from Collingwood.

GOLD COAST 74 def by ADELAIDE 149

Suns studs: Dion Prestia (104) played a lone hand in an injury ravaged midfield with 31 disposals — 13 contested possessions — including six rebound 50s and five clearances. Dan Currie (97) played his best game for the Suns, while Peter Wright (95) impressed with three goals.

Suns duds: Owners of popular pick Darcy Macpherson (44) will be sweating on the result of scans on the injured Sun’s knee this week. Ryan Davis (66) got enough of the ball but was unable to cash in on the scoreboard operating at 58 per cent.

Crows studs: Tom Lynch and Taylor Walker combined for seven goals and 252 SuperCoach points. Charlie Cameron (114) the only other Crow in triple figures.

Crows duds: Scott Thompson (66) and Eddie Betts (73) could not capitalise on the soft win over the Suns.

EAGLES 94 defeat POWER 86

Eagles Studs: Josh Kennedy booted seven goals to be the match-high scorer with 137. Scott Lycett had arguably his best game of the season and finished with 113 while Matt Priddis was a contested ball machine and racked up 112 points.

Eagles Duds: Jack Darling couldn’t get involved as much as he liked finishing with 43. Andrew Gaff was knocked out by Tom Jonas in an ugly incident but was having a quiet night anyway with 43 points to his name. Mark LeCras couldn’t get in on the action and managed just 44.

Power Studs: Robbie Gray returned with a bang to top score for Port Adelaide with 120. Aaron Young had a magnificent game, kicking four goals, for 118 points. Chad Wingard (107) was the only other Power player to reach triple figures.

Power Duds: Jarman Impey was the only Power player not to register at least 50 points. Hamish Hartlett copped a couple of niggles that restricted him to 52 while boom cash cow Darcy Byrne-Jones injured his knee/ankle and finished with 57.

KANGAROOS 113 def BLUES 46

Kangaroos Studs: Goldy’s back! After two quiet weeks by his lofty standards, Todd Goldstein churned out 173 points after racking up an incredible 45 hitouts, while three goals in the third quarter capped off an excellent night for the North big man. Jack Ziebell (141) was also massive and a consistent four-quarter performer with 11 contested possessions, six clearances and two goals.

Kangaroos Duds: Drew Petrie (39) was quiet again and failed to register a goal. After he was the highest-scoring Roo last week, Sam Gibson crashed back to earth with just 45 points.

Blues Studs: For a team that lost by 67 points it’s remarkable Carlton had five players score triple figures - led by Sam Docherty (135), who has been prolific the past three weeks. Irishman Ciaran Byrne (112) played his best game in Navy Blue with 23 disposals, and Bryce Gibbs (107) did the job despite picking up a lot of cheap possessions.

Blues Duds: There were plenty of passengers with nine players scoring less than 50. That’s right, NINE! Sam Rowe scored a lowly 14 and Simon White (27) and Jed Lamb (28) weren’t much better. Jacob Weitering (38) had a shocker in his return from injury.

Trent Cotchin was in fine form on his return from injury.

TIGERS 83 defeat DOCKERS 45

Tigers Studs: Trent Cotchin was immense on his return from injury. Wearing a helmet, Cotchin finished with a career-high 39 disposals and match-high 151 points. Dustin Martin continued his fine form with 133 while Shaun Grigg and Anthony Miles also tonned up.

Tigers Duds: Ty Vickery struggled in the wet conditions, scoring just 15 points. Jayden Short also struggled with 20 points to his name. With injuries galore a lot of coaches would have been relying on Connor Menadue but his 46 wasn’t what was needed.

Dockers Studs: Lachie Neale is certainly in scintilating form and his 148 was a team-high. Connor Blakely played perhaps the best game of his young career and scored 122 for his 1700 owners. Nick Suban (114) also reached triple figures.

Dockers Duds: Zac Dawson was reported and finished with a team-low 28 points. Garrick Ibbotson isn’t the reliable defender he was last year, scoring 36. Those who still own Tom Sheridan will be pulling their hair out as he managed 56.

DEMONS 131 def LIONS 68

Demons studs: Tomas Bugg is having an outstanding season and he continued that form on Sunday with 31 disposals and six clearances for a game-high 124 SuperCoach points. A star up forward with five goals, Jesse Hogan (121) was a dominant force, while Billy Stretch (109) had a breakout game. Nathan Jones was as good as ever scoring 109 from 27 possessions and four clearances and Christian Petracca (105) scored his first ever SuperCoach ton. Jack Watts (105), Jack Viney (102) and Bernie Vince (100) notched up triple figures, while James Harmes booted four goals and scored 99 points. 82 points from Clayton Oliver is also welcome.

Demons duds: There weren’t too many poor Demons on the ground but Max Gawn (63) had a second quiet game in a row and is set for a big price drop. Jayden Hunt (44), Viv Michie (49) and Josh Wagner (56) weren’t the most damaging.

Lions studs: Dayne Zorko just keeps performing week in, week out despite being in a team struggling for form. He had 22 disposals and six clearances for a team-high 120 points. Daniel Rich was prominent with a welcome return to form with 102 points and Tom Bell booted three goals earning him 94 points. Daniel McStay (93) did some nice things across halfback and Mitch Robinson (85) was servicable.

Lions duds: Stefan Martin was ineffective from the opening bounce, scoring a miserly 48 points as he spent time up forward after the inclusion of Trent West. Josh Schache (20) had limited opportunities and Daniel Merrett (33) had his hands full on Hogan. Ben Keays (53) could have scored better had he not fluffed a couple of set shot chances.

GIANTS 90 d BULLDOGS 73

Giants studs: Heath Shaw joined the exclusive SuperCoach 200-club with a brilliant game including 36 kicks which all hit the target. Should we start taking Stephen Coniglio seriously? He’s in 1 per cent of teams and averages 113 after 135 against the Dogs. Callan Ward did his usual thing with 124 and Dylan Shiel, Zac Williams and Jeremy Cameron all reached triple figures.

Giants duds: Just the seven for Matt Buntine who was flattened by Lin Jong in the first quarter and Tim Mohr (17) was also injured. Jacob Hopper couldn’t back up his massive debut but a 74 still ensures a huge price hike next week.

Bulldogs studs: It was the Liam Picken of 2015 leading the way with 126 and Marcus Bontempelli (112) scored his third straight ton. A big gap after those two.

Bulldogs duds: Rookie defender Kieran Collins scored just 17, Jake Stringer (49) didn’t fire a shot and Caleb Daniel (47) had no influence.

SAINTS 109 d BOMBERS 63

Saints studs: Forget Brad Crouch, we should have all picked Seb Ross at $365,900 before Round 1. He hasn’t scored below 79 and posted a monster 152 on Sunday on the back of 37 disposals. Jack Steven had 40 touches and 148 points. Nick Riewoldt didn’t kick a goal but still scored 117 and Leigh Montagna came home hard to score 99.

Saints duds: Sam Gilbert, Dylan Roberton and Jimmy Webster all scored in the 30s, luckily no one has them in SuperCoach. Jade Gresham has crept over $200k in value after a 43. Shane Savage shaped as a smart point of difference pick last week then turned out his lowest score of the year (62).

Bombers studs: All the coaches who traded Matt Dea weeks ago are crying into their Corn Flakes after he posted 126 points to earn a $49,000 price jump. Adam cooney (118) and James Kelly (113) turned back the clock and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (96) and Mitch Brown (83) delivered in our hour of need.

Bombers duds: Last week’s bubble boy Mason Redman is still just $131,800 after scoring 20 in his third game — with a breakeven of 21. James Polkinghorne (31) just isn’t working out and Orazio Fantasia (34) has hit the skids after a flying start to the year.
