Super Rankings: Jon Anderson and Mark Robinson name their top 20 players from Round 10

WE ALL know about Eddie Betts, but how much would Carlton love Mitch Robinson in the guts right now? He is Ando and Robbo’s second-best player of Round 10. SEE THE FULL TOP 20 AND HAVE YOUR SAY

AFL Crows post mortem

JUST how do you have two players from a losing team in the top six players of the round, particularly as the Lions were never going to win against Sydney?

You select Mitch Robinson and Dayne Beams for differing reasons, the former due to his ability to extract every last percentage of his God-given talent, the latter for overcoming a week where he resigned from the captaincy yet still played a blinder.

And then there’s Jake Lever at No. 7, a defender who wasn’t required for much action in the second half due to Melbourne’s dominance. But it was what Lever did in the first quarter that set the tone for the Demons.

He was faultless and fearless against his own team to show why Melbourne went so hard for him in the off-season, the missing piece of a defensive jigsaw.

His teammate Max Gawn eclipsed a good player in Sam Jacobs in the ruck, and while there is a game to go before hand, Gawn’s Queen’s Birthday match-up with Brodie Grundy has Polly Farmer and John Nicholls written all over it.

Speaking of Grundy, he is our best player for the round, a rare rucking combination of aggression and skill. And an excellent reason for why recruiters should still use top selections if the right ruckman exists.

Making his debut in these rankings is Angus Brayshaw, although it certainly won’t be his last appearance given the feel he has for the game.

And Devon Smith continued his case for the recruit of the year after moving from GWS. Could even the Bombers have envisaged the influence he’s having?
