SYDNEY says Luke Parker isn’t going anywhere despite agreeing to broker trades for Victorians Dan Hannebery and Gary Rohan.

The Swans have agreed to work a deal for three-time All Australian Hannebery, who is bound for St Kilda on a four-year deal worth $800,000 plus a trigger for a fifth season.

Rohan had his exit meeting on Tuesday with Sydney happy to accept the contracted flanker’s desire to get closer to home in a trade.

But despite Victorian clubs asking questions about the contracted Parker, Sydney is adamant he is happy at the club.

Sydney football boss Tom Harley told the Herald Sun he was staying put.

“You can unequivocally knock that one on the head. I have spoken to Luke today and that’s not going to happen.”

Star midfielder Parker is already planning an off-season trip focusing on sports science through a club sponsor, another indication he is already focusing on the 2019 season with Sydney.

Harley said the Swans hadn’t had trade discussions yet on Hannebery but would expect strong compensation.

“Dan is a Melbourne boy from a Melbourne family who is clearly thinking about the next phase of his life, which includes the final stages of his footy career and the rest of his life.

“You have mature conversations with your players and when you have good relationships that enables you to be open and honest. He has asked for a trade and we are open to it.

“What we do know is he is a 200-gamer and three time All Australian so clearly there is work to do (on a trade).”

Rohan and his wife are from Cobden in south-western Victoria, with Geelong considering whether it needs him but not yet confirming they will attempt to trade for him.

“Everyone knows Gary’s circumstances so we are really mindful and respectful of that,” Harley said.

“He is also a contracted player so it would need to be something that satisfied both parties. Both players have separate and unique circumstances.”

St Kilda football boss Simon Lethlean backed in Hannebery to be an influential player for the Saints if they could get him to the club

“We believe Dan has the capacity to be an extremely influential player for us at the Saints,” Lethlean said

“Dan is a highly credentialed premiership player with significant finals experience.

“He is also hugely respected for the standards he sets on the track and has been an important leader at the Swans for many years.

“All of these attributes are really appealing to us and would add to our group.

“We also have to work through what a possible trade looks like with the Sydney Swans and ensure it is the right deal for St Kilda.”
