MANY a punter is celebrating early after Sportsbet paid out on Gary Ablett to win the Brownlow Medal today.

So certain is the online bookmaker that the Gold Coast captain will win his second league best and fairest it has paid out on more than $270,000 worth of bets.

Ablett is currently $1.42 to win the medal - and can still be backed until Brownlow night - but any bet on him to win since the day the market opened last year will paid out today.

Sportsbet's Shaun Anderson said there has been more money on Ablett than the next six players in the market combined.

"All the money has been for Ablett, he has been in brilliant form, his team is winning and his biggest competition in Jobe Watson has been injured,'' Ablett said.

"There is no doubt in our mind that Gaz will be claiming his second Brownlow, so we see no reason not to pay out now.''

Ablett opened at $8 and has never drifted past $9.

Sportsbet paid out early on Chris Judd winning the Brownlow in 2011 only for Dane Swan to take home the medal in a shock result.

"Some people might think we havent learnt our lesson after being burnt on Juddy, but we are confident that we have called it right with Gaz,'' Anderson said.

Ablett is tied atop the Herald Sun Player of the Year leaderboard on 20 votes with Swan and Sydney's Daniel Hannebery.
