Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis not included in Hawthorn’s 2017 club calendar

Sam Mitchell was overlooked for a month in the Hawthorn calendar.

DID Hawthorn drop a massive hint in mid-September that Sam Mitchell’s time at the club was coming to an end?

The Hawks released their 2017 calendar on September 15 and surprisingly, the four-time premiership star was an omission.

Luke Hodge, Josh Gibson, Cyril Rioli and Isaac Smith were all included but Mitchell, a premiership captain, couldn’t make the grade.

Even no frills defender James Frawley got his own month ahead of Mitchell.

Mitchell was officially traded to the Eagles on Friday morning to finish his playing career and transition into coaching.

The idea was floated by club coach Alastair Clarkson on the morning of the Brownlow Medal.

Adding to the intrigue, Jordan Lewis was also left out of the calendar.

In a shock trade bombshell, it emerged on Thursday that Lewis wanted out of the Hawks and had approached Melbourne about a possible move.

So for all the rumours and speculation during the trade period, is the AFL club calendar a truly reliable source?

If that is the case, Travis Cloke and Marley Williams will remain at Collingwood. Both players have their own months in the Pies’ 2017 calendar.

If not, Magpies fans might need to cover Cloke’s Collingwood jumper with red, white and blue or skip his month altogether.
