Adelaide Crows video backfires after Jack Higgins enrages city

The Adelaide Crows didn’t take kindly to Jack Higgins’ savage sledge, but their attempts to return serve fell apart in one video.

Adelaide’s attempts to hit back at Jack Higgins’ city sledge has backfired in spectacular fashion.

The St Kilda forward delivered his brutally honest opinion of the City of Churches on Sunday after the club’s win over Port Adelaide.

With the Saints remaining in Adelaide for the week ahead of Gather Round, Higgins was asked if he had any plans in place for his stay.

“No, I don’t like Adelaide, so I’ll probably be in my room playing Call Of Duty with the boys,” Higgins said.

The comments didn’t sit well with locals and it didn’t take the Crows long to return serve in a video posted to social media.

A handful of players were asked to give recommendations to Higgins of things to do around the city. Unfortunately there was a rather glaring problem with the upload ... all of the suggestions were for places outside of Adelaide.

Almost every player said he should hit up the wineries in McLaren Vale or the Barossa Valley, both of which are over a 40-minute car ride out of Adelaide.

Footy fans were quick to point out the issue with the video, declaring the club had only amplified Higgins’ original remarks.

One wrote on TikTok: “Even the players know Higgins is on the money.”

A second added: “After hearing this, staying in the hotel room sounds like the best option.”

Another on X wrote: “Higgo spot on. Doesn’t sound like much to do.”

A fourth responded: “So you’ve confirmed there’s actually nothing to do in Adelaide?”

Higgins infuriated the city with his remarks.

Higgins backtracked on his remarks on Monday.

“I don’t mind Adelaide, I just don’t love it. I was having more of a joke around,” he said.

South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas weighed in on the saga, offering an invite to Higgins to show him what the city had to offer.

“Maybe Jack just can’t be prized away from that gaming console, I’m not too sure, let’s assume for a moment that he might be able to, we will be turning our minds to that you can rest assured,” the premier said.

Malinauskas’ offer was passed along to the Saints livewire who said he would be happy to take him up on it.

“If he wants to do it, I’m on. I’ll get off my Call of Duty and I’ll go with him,” Higgins said.

Gather Round is set to take over Adelaide in round 5 with the action kicking off on Thursday night through to Sunday with every game live on Fox Footy.
