Nick Riewoldt's Texan makes her Brownlow Medal debut

IT was the first Brownlow for Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt's new girlfriend, towering Texan Catherine Heard.

IT WAS the first Brownlow for Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt's new girlfriend towering Texan, Catherine Heard who spoke out for the first time about her new love.

The college graduate took the glitz and glamour all in her stride on the Brownlow blue carpet as she talked up her man.

"I can't say that I have been to anything like this, but luckily I have Nick with me who is a good mentor," Heard said.

"It is all a little intimidating and a little nerve racking.''

A self-confessed sports nut, Heard said she had no idea what she was in for when she arrived Dwon Under only to discover Nick was a superstar in his home town.

"I had no idea. I met him back in the States so didn't know his life over here and came here and was in for a shock, that's for sure, but it's been fun and exciting.''

Heard said she has been living in Melbourne with Nick since arriving from the US after completing a degree in communications and marketing in May.

"So, I will get a job out here and I'm excited to start working,'' she said as her man skirted the media pack.

"I am loving it here but I am missing my summer,'' she laughed."It it has been great so far."

"Alright that's enough,'' Riewoldt said as he whisked his new Texan love inside to the medal count.
