ST KILDA will slash the price of tickets for Friday night’s mockbuster against Carlton, creating the cheapest AFL game at Etihad Stadium in recent history.

For less than the cost of a pie and a beer, Saints and Blues fans can watch their teams with adult general admission (GA) tickets to drop to $13 — down from $25 — for 13 hours from Thursday morning.

St Kilda will also open eight bays on level one to GA ticket holders, who are usually restricted to level three.

Saints general admission members will also benefit with four extra bays open for them on level one.

The club will also use dynamic pricing to drop level two behind the goal seats from $75 to $45.

This season North Melbourne offered $15 GA tickets against Port Adelaide while the Saints dropped the price to $16 against GWS. The Bulldogs had a two-for-one offer in Round 8.

At the start of the season St Kilda would have forecast a crowd of 30,000 plus for Friday night’s fixture, but that target has been downgraded after the Saints’ and Blues’ dreadful seasons.

A crowd in the high 20,000s would be a realistic expectation.

St Kilda chief Matt Finnis hoped fans would flood Etihad Stadium.

“While our performances have lifted in the past few weeks, we acknowledge that the first half of the season was disheartening for our supporters,” Finnis said.

“That said, we can’t escape the important role they will play in helping us turn things around.

“The way our new Etihad Stadium deal is structured means that even small increases in crowd attendance translates into significant financial uplift.

“Every supporter who attends our games in the final seven rounds will have a big impact on our club.”

The Saints lowest crowd this year was 14,956 against GWS.
