WEST COAST Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui’s remarkable running vertical jump record has been equalled at the AFL draft Combine on Sunday by ruckman Gach Nyuon.
Born in Sudan, Nyuon is one of a number of exciting Sudanese prospects invited to this year’s combine and has excited onlookers with his athleticism and huge leap.
Nyuon’s jump was recorded at 362cm — the same measurement recorded by Naitanui at the 2008 Combine before he was selected with pick No. 2 by the Eagles.
The running vertical jump measures the distance from the ground to the highest point at which the player reaches with his hand.
Nyuon also recorded an impressive 330cm in the standing vertical jump, ranked second behind fellow Sudanese-born player Mabior Chol and 94cm in the running vertical jump, also ranked second.

Another impressive athlete, Chol finished second behind Nyuon in the running vertical jump at 357cm.
Nyuon’s outstanding athleticism was also on show in the 20m sprint, recording a time of 2.95 seconds — ranked just outside the top 10 and only 0.7 seconds off 19-year-old Oakleigh Charger Alex Morgan who recorded a time of 2.88 seconds.
