ADELAIDE
Rory Sloane (ACL) – season
Mitch Hinge – Hip – test
Andrew McPherson – Hamstring – test
Zac Taylor – Thumb – 3-4 weeks
Paul Seedsman – Concussion – ongoing
Adelaide midfielder Rory Laird expects captain Rory Sloane to return to his best next year after his season-ending knee injury. Sloane ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Saturday night’s win over Richmond and will require a reconstruction in a devastating blow for the 32-year-old. Laird listed ex-Giant Jackson Hately, Luke Pedlar and Harry Schoenberg among the options to step up while Sloane was out, while Sam Berry and Chayce Jones are likely to have increased roles as well.
BRISBANE
Keidean Coleman – Hamstring – test
Eric Hipwood – Knee – 6-8 weeks
As ex-Geelong recruit Linc McCarthy prepares to play his 100th AFL game on Sunday — when the Lions meet the Gold Coast Suns in the QClash at Metricon Stadium — his team is in rude shape on the injury front. Eric Hipwood would be the cherry on the cake for coach Chris Fagan if he could make a remarkable mid-year return.
– MARCO MONTEVERDE
CARLTON
Patrick Cripps – Hamstring – test
Oscar McDonald – Back – test
Josh Honey – Knee – Test
Ed Curnow – Knee – 1-2 weeks
David Cuningham – Knee – 10 weeks
Caleb Marchbank – Knee – 1-2 weeks
Mitch McGovern – Hamstring – 1-2 weeks
Patrick Cripps’ stunning start to the season is set to take another remarkable turn, with Carlton’s confidence that he sustained a one-week hamstring injury growing by the day.
The Blues expect Cripps to light up Saturday night’s match against Fremantle in front of his family and friends in Western Australia just 13 days after clutching at his left hamstring.
The swift response also boosts Cripps’ hopes of becoming just Carlton’s third Brownlow Medallist in 58 years a big boost.
– SAM LANDSBERGER
COLLINGWOOD
Darcy Cameron – ribs – test
Beau McCreery – Hip – 1 – test
Jack Ginnivan – Soreness – test
Jordan Roughead – finger – 2-3 weeks
Trey Ruscoe – Plantaris – 1 week
Jamie Elliott – Shoulder – 12 weeks
Ash Johnson – Hamstring – 8 weeks
Jordan Roughead is a big out for the Magpies – he had surgery on a finger after hurting the digit against Brisbane on Easter Thursday and is expected to miss several weeks. Darcy Cameron remains a chance after hurting his ribs. Mason Cox could be on the outer again after a modest output last week. Brody Mihocek and Jack Ginnivan appear certain to return in attack, while Beau McCreery is almost recovered too. John Noble was the medi-sub last week and will be in the mix, while Tyler Brown (26 disposals), Ollie Henry (three goals), Caleb Poulter (22), Fin Macrae (25) and Trent Bianco (22) were good in the VFL.
– GLENN McFARLANE
ESSENDON
Michael Hurley – hip – indefinite

Zach Merrett – ankle – 3-4 weeks
Andrew Phillips – hamstring – 1 week
Will Snelling – calf – 3-4 weeks
James Stewart – calf – 2-3 weeks
Jake Stringer – hamstring – 1-2 weeks
The Bombers can’t get the right cattle on the park at the right time. The absence of Stringer and Merrett continues to hurt them.
FREMANTLE
Nat Fyfe – back – indefinite
Matthew Johnson – ankle – 4 weeks
Fremantle champion Nat Fyfe does not appear any closer to a return as he battles an ongoing back issue. All eyes will be on Carlton’s Adam Cerra as he returns to Perth to take on his old club on Saturday night.
GEELONG
Shaun Higgins – concussion – Test
Sam Menegola – Concussion – Test
Quinton Narkle – Ankle – Test
Esava Ratugolea – Ankle – Test
Jon Ceglar – Foot – 8-12 weeks
Gary Rohan – Back and hip – 2-3 months
Sam Simpson – Concussion – TBC
James Willis – Knee – TBC
Flynn Kroeger – Hip – TBC
Toby Conway – Hip TBC
It’ll be a close watch on the Cats’ medical room as they lick their wounds, with Jack Henry (foot), Cam Guthrie (corked quad) and Jed Bews (shoulder) all to be closely looked at. Jake Kolodjashnij was rested on Monday and should slot straight back in, potentially at the expense of Bews. Patrick Dangerfield also poses an interesting prospect. Coach Chris Scott admitted there had been niggles for the Brownlow medallist – not enough to keep him out of a game. We know the Cats don’t hesitate to rest players if they need it so he might be one in the next few weeks who could benefit from a freshen-up.

GOLD COAST
Mabior Chol – groin – test
Jy Farrar – hamstring- test
Jack Lukosius – Knee – 1-2 weeks
Charlie Constable – concussion – TBC
Jack Bowes – shoulder – 2 weeks
Joel Jeffrey – ankle – 2-3 weeks
Ben King – knee – season
Bodhi Uwland – back – indefinite
The Suns will be sweating on an injury to big man Mabior Chol. He hurt his groin in the weekend’s loss to St Kilda but will be given every chance to train later in the week and put his hand up to play in the Q-clash at Metricon Stadium. Stuart Dew might look at bringing in Elijah Hollands, who has been good at VFL level, and axe Alex Davies. Izak Rankine gets another week.
GWS
Jack Buckley – knee – 3-4 months
Conor Stone – hamstring – 1-2 weeks
Zach Sproule – shoulder – 2 weeks
Brent Daniels – foot – 2-4 weeks
Daniel Lloyd – arm – 5-7 weeks
Jacob Hopper – knee – 8-12 weeks
Phil Davis – hamstring – 8-10 weeks
HAWTHORN
Mitch Lewis - hamstring - 2-3 weeks
Lachlan Bramble – foot – test
Chad Wingard - calf - test
Will Day – concussion – test
Max Lynch - concussion - test
Ned Reeves – shoulder – 2 weeks
Ben McEvoy – neck – 10 weeks
Hawthorn’s Mitch Lewis tweaked a hamstring while booting a goal into the MCG stands on Monday and will miss the next two weeks.
The freak injury happened when Lewis ran into an open goal against Geelong and launched an excessive kick into the crowd instead of just poking the ball through the big sticks.
Ruckman Ned Reeves will also miss Monday’s Anzac Day clash against Sydney in Launceston.
Reeves dislocated his right shoulder in the opening quarter against the Cats and a return date is yet to be determined.
Max Lynch and youngster Will Day are expected back from concussion, while Chad Wingard will have a test on a calf injury.
MELBOURNE
Michael Hibberd – calf – 1 week
Daniel Turner- foot – 3-4 weeks
Christian Salem – knee – 4-5 weeks
NORTH MELBOURNE
Tarryn Thomas – internal bruising – test
Cameron Zurhaar – concussion – test
Ben Cunnington – testicular cancer – indefinite
Jared Polec – foot – 5-6 weeks
Phoenix Spicer – hamstring – 2-3 weeks
Aaron Hall – hamstring – 2-4 weeks
North clearly needs a spark and it could come in the form of draftee Paul Curtis. An exciting pressure forward, the teenager kicked four goals in the Roos win over Footscray in the VFL with coach Leigh Adams declaring him a “class above”. Big man Charlie Comben also kicked four goals including the matchwinner to push his case. Cam Zurhaar will return from concussion against the Cats.
– SCOTT GULLAN
PORT ADELAIDE
Ollie Wines – heart – test
Charlie Dixon – ankle – TBC
Xavier Duursma – neck/shoulder – test
Orazio Fantasia – knee – 4-6 weeks
Scott Lycett – shoulder – 12 weeks
Trent McKenzie – knee – TBC
Josh Sinn – groin – 2-3 weeks
Port Adelaide captain Tom Jonas is confident Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines will return from his heart issue to face West Coast at home this Saturday. Wines sat out the thrilling loss to the Blues, having spent a night in hospital after the previous week’s defeat to Melbourne. Jackson Mead was quiet against Carlton and could make way. Defender Lachie Jones is expected to be available after clearing Covid protocols but he may have to work his way back via SANFL level.
– MATT TURNER
RICHMOND
Josh Caddy – hamstring – 4-6 weeks
Dylan Grimes – hamstring – 1-2 weeks
Dustin Martin – personal – TBC
Hugo Ralpsmith – ribs – 1-2 weeks
Noah Cumberland – knee – test
Triple-premiership midfielder Kane Lambert has had two games back from a long-term hip injury at VFL level and shone against Carlton on Sunday with 25 disposals and two goals. Kamdyn McIntosh would be expected to come straight back in after missing last week under Covid protocols. Ivan Soldo had 15 disposals and kicked two goals in the VFL and will come under consideration to team up with Toby Nankervis against the formidable Melbourne ruck duo of Max Gawn and Luke Jackson.
– CHRIS CAVANAGH
ST KILDA
Zak Jones – H&S protocols – 1 week
Raddy Ryder – suspended – 1 week
Jack Billings – hamstring – 1-2 weeks
Hunter Clark – shoulder – 1-2 weeks
Nick Coffield – ACL – season
Dan Hannebery – calf – 5-7 weeks
It’s worth noting that this could well be an unchanged team given its prowess in recent weeks, with Zak Jones and Jimmy Webster the only potential inclusions. That’s of course dependent on whether they’re ready, with Jones having played just one VFL game on his return after a break for personal reasons and Webster returning to the fold after missing due to Covid rules. Jones proved strong at Sandringham, finishing with 27 touches and nine clearances in a narrow win. Rowan Marshall again holds the ruck load with Paddy Ryder still suspended and Jack Hayes should hold his spot. Watch this space – big indicators in the Saints’ game show that the surge can be sustained.

SYDNEY
Lance Franklin – finger – test
Tom Papley – hamstring – 1 week
Tom Hickey – knee – 4 weeks
Robbie Fox – hamstring – TBC
Colin O’Riordan – eye – TBC
Sam Naismith – knee – season
The Swans are leaving the door ajar for superstar forward Lance Franklin to make a quicker-than-expected recovery from a broken finger and face his old side Hawthorn.
Coach John Longmire revealed the champion goalkicker could miss just one match, after initially being expected to be out for at least a fortnight and possibly up to three weeks.
But Sydney’s other All-Australian forward Tom Papley (hamstring) won’t be in contention for Monday’s Anzac Day clash in Tasmania despite training fully on Tuesday.
– MARC McGOWAN
WEST COAST
Oscar Allen – Foot – 4 weeks
Campbell Chesser – Ankle – Inactive
Tom Cole – Ankle – Inactive
Luke Edwards – Groin – TBC
Andrew Gaff – Ankle – 1-2 weeks
Tom Joyce – Ankle – 3-4 weeks
Nic Naitanui – Knee – 12 weeks
Dom Sheed – Ankle – 4 weeks
Zane Trew – Shin – 1 week
West Coast forward Oscar Allen is back in a moon boot with no set time on a return to football in another major setback to the Eagles stumbling bid to get their season back on track. Allen, who is yet to play at all this season after injuring a foot in the pre-season, is now not expected to play for at least the next month. Eagles head of health Mark Finucane predicted that young midfielders Connor West (hip) and Luke Edwards (groin) would be available to face Port Adelaide this weekend but said the Eagles were treading carefully with Allen.
– MARK DUFFIELD and JORDAN McARDLE
