Danny Frawley was in his element.
Smiling widely and with a footy in hand, the AFL legend was doing what he did best - sharing his skills with the next generation of footy players at an AusKick coaching clinic in Hong Kong.
The enthusiastic kids gathered around him and Hawks players Isaac Smith and Liam Shiels as he cheered and laughed with the young players for four hours just a week before his tragic death.
At one point during the session he started chanting and clapping as he implored them to “#savethedribble” - a reference to the dribble kick a co-host on Fox Footy’s Bounceprogram dislikes, as Smith and Shiels kicked a footy around under the blazing Hong Kong sun.
Frawley, who turned 56, last Sunday a day before his death in a car crash near Ballarat, blew the whistle enthusiastically as his young charges surrounded him in a semicircle, and later watched carefully as he held some kicking drills.
He later posed with a young boy who proudly held a trophy alongside Smith and Shiels.
Frawley was also joined by the Hawks stars’ at an AusKick fundraising quiz night in which he donated a signed jersey and was interviewed on stage during the event.
With shock and disbelief, we were saddened to hear the news of Danny Frawleyâs death this afternoon. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with him last weekend. Our thoughts are with his daughters and wife Anita. RIP Danny pic.twitter.com/lESkKBeLC6
