Tom Lynch jumps 170 spots in Herald Sun Super Rankings as Tom Mitchell moves into No.1 position

HE is the hottest free agent of 2018 and Tom Lynch reminded everyone why on Saturday when he booted eight goals against Carlton. That performance has seen him jump into the Super Rankings top 10. But who is ranked No.1? SEE THE FULL LIST

The Suns co-captain led his team to its second win of the season and in the process rocketed up 170 spots on the Munich Brauhaus Super Rankings after Round 2.

Lynch is now ranked in the top-10, sharing the ninth overall ranking alongside Crow Rory Laird.

The out-of-contract 25-year-old, who is on the radar of several Victorian clubs, played down his brilliant performance.

“It was nice to get on the end of a few, I was goalless the week before’’ he said.

“I don’t think it was the best game I’ve ever played in any way, I didn’t take a lot of marks but that’s the nature of footy.

“I’ve had days that I think I’ve played better but not had a huge impact on the scoreboard, the ball bounces your way sometimes, so I’ll take it when it comes because I don’t expect I’m going to kick eight goals every week.’’

Tom Mitchell’s influence in the midfield is one of the main reasons for Hawthorn’s unbeaten start to the season and it’s little surprise to see him claim the No.1 ranking from Lance Franklin.

Backing up his 54 disposals against Collingwood in Round 1, Mitchell had 40 touches and kicked two goals against the Cats on Easter Monday.

Melbourne young gun Clayton Oliver has so far this season underlined his status as one of the best midfielders in the game despite being just 20 years of age.

His 35 disposals in the win over Brisbane has seen him charge up to No.3 in the rankings, a jump of 19 spots.

The Bulldogs have endured two beltings in the opening rounds but midfielder Jack Macrae has been a shining light in the midfield.

His equal game-high 31 disposals and three goals in the 51-point loss to West Coast elevating him to No.6 — equal with last week’s No.1 Franklin, who has dropped five spots.
