Hardie, on the weekend, claimed that Lyon had reached out to the Magpies through a third party about the job.
Lyon and the club issued a terse statement denying the claims and Buckley lashed out at the media when asked about the assertions following the Pies’ loss to Port Adelaide yesterday.
“Right now, I don’t know if Brad Hardie’s information is right,” Mark Robinson said.
“So we’ve got to take sides of faith.
“Why would Ross Lyon respond like that if it was true, or did he respond so angrily because it was true? I don’t know.”

Speaking on TAB Radio this morning, the Brownlow medallist said he was “comfortable” with what he reported.
“A month ago, I said it and it wasn’t with any names, and it was actually on the back of a talkback caller on Saturday who pressed the issue and threw out a lot of the details to it,” Hardie said.
“I just reiterated what I had heard and known (from) five weeks ago.”
Lauren Wood said in the SuperFooty Podcast it was interesting that the story had grown legs and that coaches and clubs had addressed it.
“It’s not often, not only that coaches comment on it, but for clubs to comment on it,” Lauren said.
“There’s all sorts of rumours that fly around.
“For every five that end up in the paper, there’s probably 35 that float around
“For this to get to this point is very interesting.”
