THE AFL suffered an embarrassing security breach at last night’s Brownlow Medal after serial fame-seeker Nelly Yoa sneaked into the prestigious event.

Yoa, a self-proclaimed “ex pro footballer” and “brand ambassador” who has gained publicity after making claims about his soccer ability and his involvement in community work, dressed in a tuxedo and walked the red carpet, stopping to chat to reporters who recognised him.

He entered Crown Palladium and shot video of the event, which he has since posted on social media.

“Still don’t know how I got in without an invitation? #BrownlowMedal, Brownlow2018, #Brownlow,” he wrote.

It’s understood he told an attendant who was checking off invitees he was a guest of Majak Daw and snuck off before he could be verified.

Daw was not invited to the event and once event organising realised, they went in search of Yoa.

It’s understood he hid in a toilet before he was found by security.

It’s believed he has now been banned from Crown casino.

“This was a one off issue, an unfortunate one, but it was handled very swiftly,” an AFL spokesman said.

Nelly Yoa has claimed he has tried out for AFL clubs.

Yoa told the Herald Sun he had been invited to the event and had an email detailing as such. Yoa has refused to supply the Herald Sun with the email.

“I went through five different check points at the Brownlow. Yet got in,” Yoa told the Herald Sun.

The league maintained he was not invited and will review event security in the wake of the breach.

Yoa has previously claimed that he had an “unsuccessful trial in England with Chelsea Football Club and Queens Park Rangers Football”, which have since been challenged.

He has also claimed to have made a switch to Australian Rules and that he had spent time at Collingwood, with Magpies boss Eddie McGuire telling the Herald Sun in January that Yoa had “applied for a position as a category B rookie but was subsequently unsuccessful”.
