Round 13 injuries update: Who is missing from your club
A promising Gold Coast defender is facing another year out of the game after scans delivered devastating news from an incident in a scratch match last weekend. Plus a ruck scare at the Demons and more headaches for Hawthorn.

Foundation Sun Rory Thompson’s time out of the AFL could extend to three years on the back of a devastating injury setback.
Thompson looked to be on the cusp of returning to the AFL after nearly two seasons out with injury, but suffered a partial tear to his ACL in his right knee during his second game back while playing in a scratch match on the weekend.
It’s the opposite knee to the one he first hurt in 2019.
“He had an incident in the game that required him to come from the ground and subsequently we’ve had some scans taken,” Suns football manager Jon Haines said.
“He’s got a partial tear to his ACL in his non reconstructed (right) knee.”
“It’s an unusual one given it’s a partial tear, so we just want to make sure we get all the right opinions before we make a decision on the best way forward.”
It adds to a gruelling recovery for Thompson who ruptured the ACL in his right knee in three weeks before the start of the 2019 season. His last game came in Round 19 of the 2018 season against Carlton.
Thompson is 29 and if he requires surgery again it could mean he will miss the entire 2021 season, leaving him without three seasons of AFL football at the age of 30.
One major saving grace for Thompson is the fact he is contracted until the end of 2023.

ANOTHER DEMONS RUCK SCARE
Melbourne’s ruck department has suffered another injury scare after Braydon Preuss was forced to leave the training track early on Wednesday after experiencing hip soreness.
After playing his first game of the season last week when he came into the Melbourne team for injured skipper Max Gawn, Preuss will undergo scans on his hip after hurting it at training on the Sunshine Coast.
But the Demons are confident he will be fit for Saturday’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium.
The Demons are still sweating on the fitness of All-Australian ruckman Gawn, who missed last week’s big win over Collingwood with a PCL injury.
Melbourne performance manager Darren Burgess said Preuss’ injury would be monitored over the coming days.
“Preussy just hurt his hip today in training so we will just have a look at how that goes over the next few days, but we are confident that he will get up,” Burgess said.
Gawn faces a fitness test to see if he will be cleared to return to take on the Bulldogs.
“Maxy is progressing well with his rehab, we are just taking it day-by-day and we will see how he pulls up for the weekend,” Burgess said.
The Demons also lost first-year tall Luke Jackson to a hamstring injury last week.
BAD BREAK FOR O’MEARA
Hawthorn star Jaeger O’Meara has broken his hand and will miss up to a fortnight.
The vice-captain will have surgery to have a plate inserted after suffering the injury in the first quarter of the team’s loss to West Coast.
“It was a pretty gallant effort from him to get through the game,” Hawks fitness boss Luke Boyd said.
“He’s going to have surgery this week which’ll obviously rule him out (against Port Adelaide this week).
“We’ll reassess next week and see whether he’s available to play.”
Young Hawk Harry Jones has also been sidelined after injuring his MCL, and faces a recovery of up to six weeks.
McGOVERN SETBACK FOR BLUES
A hamstring hiccup will sideline forward Mitch McGovern for up to another three weeks, meaning the goalkicker could miss more than six weeks with the injury.
McGovern, 25, suffered a setback in his recovery from the injury that was originally sustained against the Kangaroos in Round 8, which Blues fitness boss Andrew Russell said had meant the key forward had to be reined in.
“He won’t be out there this week, and he won’t be out there for the next two or three weeks,” Russell said on Tuesday.
“He got a little bit tight at training this week, so we’ve had to pull him back a little bit and then we’ll build him back up to play, whenever that is.
“But it certainly won’t be in the next week or two.”
The Blues will travel to Darwin on Friday to play Gold Coast at TIO Stadium, and could welcome back Jack Martin and David Cuningham.
“Jack’s calf has settled down,” Russell said.
“He’s a good chance to play, he’s not a certainty. But we feel he’s on track to play and he’ll be tested later on in the week.”
DAHLHAUS TO RETURN FOR CATS
Geelong’s Luke Dahlhaus is firming to make his return from a foot injury against bottom-placed Adelaide on Sunday.
The Cats forward has missed five weeks with a foot injury, but has been training strongly in Queensland and looms as the replacement for Sam Simpson (hamstring) against the Crows.
Despite the setback for Simpson, the Cats have a dwindling injury list and could also be boosted by the return of star Gary Ablett before the finals.
Dahlhaus also got through an 80-minute scratch match last weekend, and appears primed for his senior appearance since his side’s Round 7 loss to Collingwood.
His likely return will come on the back of his in-form sides 60-point thumping of ladder-leader Port Adelaide last Friday night.
