Port Adelaide’s top 2019 draft pick Miles Bergman’s chances of debuting in round one have taken a hit, with the tall utility to miss one-to-two weeks with a minor ankle injury.
Assistant coach Nathan Bassett said forward-midfielder Bergman had suffered the injury at training which had ruled him out of Sunday’s opening Marsh Community Series match against Brisbane and next week’s under-23 trial against Adelaide.

“Miles has a bit of an ankle tweak at the moment so he might be out for a week or two,” Bassett said of the highly-talented No. 14 draft pick.
“It’s nothing too serious but there will be a good chance he’ll miss next week as well.”
Bassett confirmed Port’s second 2019 draft pick, key forward Mitch Georgiades (No. 18 overall), would play against the Lions.
“Mitch has had a very good pre-season and deserves his opportunity,” he said.
“He’s been very promising at training and we’re looking forward to seeing what it looks like in a match.
“He has great movement, is very agile and jumps at the footy.
“We certainly think he can add something in the air and he’s got great legs to get up and back.”
