OLLIE Wines is deep in talks with Port Adelaide on a potential two-year deal that will cement his faith in the club’s direction.
Wines has been anointed as a future Power captain by Ken Hinkley, who on Wednesday said he had no doubt the Victorian would sign on.
Neither party is in any rush but Wines’ manager Nick Gieschen told the Herald Sun every sign was positive.

“He loves Port Adelaide and Port Adelaide loves him. We are in positive talks with the club and Ollie is really happy there.”
Those talks might still take several months but any Victorian club attempting to lure him home will be wasting their time given his level of comfort with his future.
Wines was at his brilliant best in the win over Sydney and has already racked up 109 games at 23 years of age.
He has customarily signed two-year contract extensions at the Power and another two-year deal would take him up to restricted free agency.
Hinkley said he believed Wines would remain at Power past this season.
“Ollie has the right of negotiation. I don’t have any problem in that space,” he said.
“I know the player really well, I know the person incredibly well, I know the family very well and I think there’s absolutely no doubt that a commitment to Port Adelaide will come from Ollie — it’s just a matter of when.”
Hinkley was bold enough to admit he sees Wines as Travis Boak’s successor.
“I’m really honest. I suspect that will be the case, and it won’t be too far away,” he told SEN.
“I think he’s ready, and with Trav and the whole leadership group. Ollie’s a part of it, but I think we all admire the way he went about it on the weekend.
“I called him a beast after the game, and that’s the way I love to see him play.
“He’s just turned (23), and he’s just about there I reckon, and he’s in that frame of mind that he understands his weapons better, understands how to use them better and the significance to the team if he does use them.”
